I have seen the trading-evolution, but still don't understand. It's something like the MACD (we can see the volume above/below the zero line, up/down). Can you please explain to me ?

Please take a look at the chart, the fact that the bar touched the RED, does that negate the short signal? Thanks

The markets have been very choppy in the recent weeks. I was wondering if anybody trading that system on a 5min frame had a great success doing so.

Since 3 weeks I am testing the systemsetup on a 5m chart with the EMAs but I do not trade the signals as described by The wicker but just the simple intraday breakouts after a trend has developed and some daily rules in order to prevent wrong signals. I usually get good entries.

But so far the overall result is not positive apart from a few large breakouts I tend to get wipsawed. I try to focus on the EUR/USD but it seems that 5min is just to short a timeframe at the moment; the rend reverses too often. May be, I just try to much riding a trend out when there is actually none.

Could anybody please quote the average PIP profit and loss per trade he has been making trading the setup in the last weeks? I am particularly interested in knowing when people take profit. How many pips do you aim for?

25pips with trailing til 50....i do that....its seems works for me recently.

its 5MIN trading system,but i think 95% are good entries by using ALL RULES together.and trend you can catch up to 100pips.

Just use TS !

I've been using this system, however on a 1 hr chart, so far profitable, usually two too three signals a day I use a 40 pip profit and a 40 pip stop loss, although I have taken little profit and exited trades due to what the charts where telling me, but that is what I like about the guppy system, things seem more clear, especially with the automatic support and resistance/fib lines drawn....now with that said it seems switching to MT4 and the ability to just drop in indicators and ea's has saved my ass :O

Uhmmm, that would be a yes and no, the way I see this system is to go for a small number of pips when in the 5 min time frame, however once you learn to analyze the guppy it is a great help in trend following, the five minute system can lead you into a large trend, hell aren't there people and systems out there that enter on a 5 min chart? So what's wrong with this system and grabing 5 to 10 pips at a time? And remember the guppy works on higher time frames. So it is a win, win all around

I will try to use this system on a 30M chart, what SL/TP do you sugguest ? Mine is 20/20 pipes now. so risk/reward is 1:1, not too bad ??
Also, I found 30M chart will only give you valid signals a few time in a week. so patience is important. Also trading news can kill the system too.

Yeah, I have finally learned to stay out of the markets or not attempt to trade news events, I'm always learning the hard way , with that said I don't go strictly by the trend following rules on the 1hr chart, I use it as a guideline and will trade S/R lines and fib, but I can say that visually the guppy and rules from the 5 minute trend trader has helped me immensely. I'll also check out 30 min charts to see how a 20/20 RR looks.

why hasn't anybody thought to use psar as an initial and trail stop on this system. and only enter when psar agrees with the other rules? that would make sense to code as well..

just a thought

P.S. you can use this on spot silver as well.

As I'm unsure how PSAR works, I put it on my chart, to me it seems that the MAs in guppy give me a decent visual on following the trend showing the long term and short term view...how would PSAR improve this method?

you would use this for a trial stop and a stop loss.

so if you have a buy, psar should be below the price and you will use it to place your initial stop loss and trail stop

opposite with a sell. psar should be above price and use that as your stop and trail stop. so now your trades are only valid when psar agrees with macd Laguerre the guppy lines and the 4/8 cross

I can attach a picture to show you if you need it.

How do you use PSAR as trailing stop ? when 2 dots appears on the opposite side ? take a look at pic
