it just reversed and closed, trade 3 almost covered the loss of trade 4 and trade 1 and 2 were pure profit

Is there a description of exactly what this EA is doing under the hood? There have been references to adding to winning positions (pyramiding) and adding to losing positions (martingaling).

I'm leery of using EAs unless I know exactly what it's doing.

Ok Steve, here goes, from the top, a brief description

you are using my version so i will describe that
the entry is when you get 80 pips away from the 80 MA, it enters towards the MA

once open, 2 scenarios
if the trade goes with you, it opens a 2nd trade which is "Multiplier" (3) times bigger than the initial trade at "Pips" value (i'm using 0.005 or 50 pips), it then moves the sl of both trades to the "StopLoss" value (0.0012 12 pips), if it reverses after that you have profit locked in and are safe, it will keep opening trades at these intervals, if it carries on to your "TakeProfit" value without retracing then all open trades will close for a tidy sum

if the trade moves against you, it opens a 2nd trade which is "DMultiplier" time bigger than the initial trade at "DPips" value, if it reverses it will close all trades at "DTakeProfit" with the latest trade covering the loss of the others, it will keep opening these trades at "DPips" intervals up to the "InitialStopLoss" or you limit it by setting "extraorders" to as many as you are prepared to go

I think that covers it, I'll be unavailable for a few hours from now so I hope its clear enough

I looked at the USDCAD you posted recently showing a 3 deep and 4 deep and I'm trying to reconcile what I'm seeing there with your description.

The first trade opened about 80 pips below the MA (MA is approx 1.07750, trade entry = 1.06787) so that looks OK.

I was expecting the 3 orders above this first trade to be 50 pips apart but they're 62, 41 and 50 resp. Is this due to slippage?

Also, as each level is added how is the stop moved? It appears that the SL for all orders is placed 12 pips below the currently top-most one. Is this correct?

The 1st order slipped to 62, the way I programmed it is actually 50+50 pips from the 1st order, so the 2nd is pretty much in the right place relative to the initial order and the 3rd was bang on.

Yes Im using a 12 pip sl for this one, after every new order it locks in profit by movingthe stoploss up to 12 pips from the latest order.

Profitable was an early version of what is now The_EA.
The stock settings are fine and what I am using for some of my testing, testing is at an early stage and the more people play aournd with it and post their own findings the less we will duplicate each others work.

Thanks for clarifying Ben. Your results so far are very impressive. It would be interesting to see how well this EA would have done with last October's volatility trading the EUR/USD.

You cant plan for stuff like that, theres no substitute for proper money managent and common sense, if the market got silly like that id probably just turn the eas off and close all trades. Remember to withdraw your profits regularly, the broker cant take it if you have taken the money off the table.

Im looking forward to how it will cope with an interest rate change.

Ok, EA has taken it's first two trades on the EUR/USD and currently both are still open. I'm using the default settings. Ben, how did you make 1.2% yesterday? Maybe you're trading more than on pair? Are you using default settings?

Im trading pairs with spreads 4 pips or less, here are my settings on those 2 grail accounts. Obviously the all pairs has every pair form my broker except scandinavian silly spreads

Has anyone converted the latest crazy pyramid EA to EXE format??? I am sorry as I have no idea on how to change it.
