Well, I have had a really shitty day on top of a sucky week.

There is a life outside of trading, of course, and sometimes it is full of pain.

Have only spent a couple hours scalping this week & may be done til next week. Thought I'd pop in for the FO to see if I could harvest some quick pips.

Onu, I had a look at your results and they are quite enviable - I would love to have a smoothly rising equity curve like that - hope you keep it up long time.

Turveyd I was sad to hear of your loss but I know you will bounce back, old stud.

I see some of you, it seems, have found a nice place to have an argument, right here in my journal thread. If you think better of it remember it's just a mouse click to delete a post......

Thanks for your kind words. I m convinced you WILL reach your goal. The intention of my post was to show it IS possible to get there(nearly). Its only a question of trying hard, day in, day out.

Hey Dan,

I was not meaning to single you out or anything. I just popped into the thread and saw a pissing match going on. Lots of that to be found on the forums and I have been guilty of it myself more than most probably. I just wasn't in the mood for any more negativity yesterday after a really bad day. Anyway, it was good of you to apologize to onu and I hope he will do the same & that you all will make up & we will all live happily ever after.

Meanwhile, I was just scalping E/U on the 10-second chart & made about 2% in a relaxed hour. Forgot how easy that was.

Thanks dude, you've got to have the odd stupid nearly blowing the account moment to keep it errrrr real tis all fine, still in profit for recently although given it 1/2 back.

Business as per normal, got to not let stupid errors mixed with bad luck ( notice EJ tanked the same today ) let you stray from the path.


Wish I had 20second charts, been saying that for AGES, when I've got enough money to care I'll have to invest in a 20second chart package with real volume hmmmmmm.

Yes, 10-sec charts are rarely a better bet than the M1 charts, I am finding - although I am typically now making entries off the 10-sec charts while watching the M1 and/or M5 charts...

I feel like I have come full-circle in a way because I am trading like I did when I first began: lots of very short trades in volatile PA. Default TP, say 4 pips and just a "safety" SL of 10 pips that never gets hit, typically killing losers in 2-3 pips and then jump right back in. Sometimes taking shorter winners but this only in weak PA. Occasionally I will catch a winner in time to move the default TP out & set SL to BE +2 or whatever to see if I can catch larger moves, but repetition is the name of this game. In the right PA 4-pip winners are a gimme. When I am tuned in I can reliably hit 80-90% and I have started to feel like I am settling into a routine - it's a job, show up at the FO and start harvesting the pips, go for a couple hours. Hit it again around the NY open if I can wake up. Tokyo open - eh, wtf, maybe. Stay out of the news but tune in for it most definitely to catch good volatility on the aftermath.

Have not let a loser run in a couple weeks (woohoo) and maybe have had the stupid beat out of me for good, hope so, anyway. Up about 10% so far this week. 60% depletion on the spot account balance has been a mindf*ck that has taken some time to move beyond but I'm getting there & still have enough to trade full-lots and 2-4 pip winners sounds like tedium - well it is but when you know you can hit those bing bing bing & do it 10-15 times an hour in the right PA well OK do it with 1- or 2-lot trades and up and a couple hours a day & you're making a living. So, that's the plan for now. Stay on the Good Foot and don't make any more dumbass noob mistakes.

Definately stick out of news times and the times markets open / close, Europe Closing is what killed me the other day.

Hi, Fool,

I have been reading your thread with great interest. Because my trading style is very similar to yours. We both trade on Oanda. I use 5sec, 1m, and 5m charts. I very often target for few pips, such as 2, 3, 4 pips. Anything bigger than 0 are good for me. I found I have no patience to let profit run. So my trading style has to be very short time scalping.

Another thing we have in common: recent big losses. Recently I also lost a big % of my account. Only mine is bigger than yours, in both % and absolute value. But I swear I will gain the loss back with my left-over capital. I will talk about my failed strategy later.

For now, I really want to ask you some questions regarding your current trading strategy. You said you now target 4pips, with sl=10 but never let it hit. And most of your loss is only 2~3 pips. How do you manage it? Do you close your position once it is in red 2~3 pips, or you may let it run for a while, and only close it when it gets back to 2~3 pip loss range? Either way, do you have to be very carefully selecting your entry? Otherwise, how could you get 80~90% hit rates some time? Also, do you know your overall average hit rate? How many trades do you normally make during an active hour?

I really appreciate your sharing. It will be even a greater help if you can tell how you select your entry. Trend following or counter-trend, etc.
