EUR/USD steadies for now; notable buyer seen

EUR/USD is back at 1.4795 having posted a session low 1.4774. Talk BIS stepped in buying around 1.4780 has lent some support.

Obviously still talk of buy orders at 1.4770/80 as well.

Today's rate for durable goods orders and new home sales have the instrument these are a good introduction for the improvement of the GDP will be positive welcome.

The pair declined as expected yesterday, where it is currently trading between the 38.2% correction at 1.4840 and the 50% correction at 1.4770, with more tendency to the downside. As we see, the pair is within an oversold area yet a bearish crossover is evident on the 20 and 50 MA's, which supports our overview to the downside. The decline won't be easy due to the oversold signs, which may result in high volatility yet at the end the downtrend remains as far as 1.4925 is intact.
The trading range for today is among the key support at 1.4575 and the key resistance at 1.5065
The general trend is to the upside as far as 1.4135 remains intact with targets at 1.6000

Recommendation: Based on the charts and explanations above, our opinion is selling the pair from 1.4840 to 1.4705 and stop loss above 1.4925 might be appropriate.

Norway raises rates 0.25%, as expected. Don’t expect ECB to follow

Norway is the second somewhat major economy to raise rates, following Australia’s hike earlier this month. Don’t expect the neighboring ECB to even think about hiking rates anytime soon as import prices continue to tumble and bank lending slides. Norway hikes its overnight rate 0.25% to 1.50%.

EUR/USD trades at 1.4790 after stalling just above 1.4800 on a rebound. Bank jitters after GMAC went back to the government for a third bailout should keep bank stocks on the defensive today.

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Norway's central bank on Wednesday became the first of the major European institutions to hike interest rates since the credit crunch began.
The Norges Bank, joining counterparts in Australia and Israel, lifted rates by a quarter point, moving to 1.5% from 1.25%.
The rate hike was expected by economists as the central bank had considered lifting rates last month.
