I had the same issues with the demo stalling, no connection, etc. I have a funded live account with MT4 (just for a few days) and it is nothing like the demo. No problems at all.

I never understand why people put so much faith in Demo. No real execution is occurring in a Demo environment, so no matter what, it isn't any standard of measurement of a live environment...for any broker. On a deal desk, of course they are going to set the demo to never slip you. That's easy and a given. On something like MB, which is far more complex, they can't really replicate an execution out to an external bank without sending an actual order. They make a demo environment for you to test around and learn their order types, but that's it. You can't possibly expect a demo environment from ANY broker to mean squat. I hate to break the news to people. But I also don't understand the problem, especially in the case of MB where you can trade micros in a live environment. Put $400 in your account and trade 0.1 until you are satisfied...almost no real risk but you are getting real executions.

If the company is reputable than the price feed should be EXACTLY the same! So the indicators should work as they would on Live. Orders should be triggered at the same exact entry point and better yet you dont have to worry about requoutes so you get a perfect picture of how your strategy or EA works. Comparing Demo and Live is a Great way to see how "OFF" the platform is. Demo has its uses.

Bullshit.... the prices should be the same and the demo trades should simulate an execution similar to a live environment.

BULLSHIT yourself. Prices can be the same, but that doesn't create an execution. If you think that there is a way to replicate the complexity of order routing between hundreds or even thousands of participants, no one can help you. Of course you can replicate that with a desk...because they just tell you that you got filled at the price showing. Only difference in the Live environment is whether they let that happen.

The quote thing is a separate issue. Anyone can show you identical quotes. The issue lies in the process of EXECUTION. If these brokers were underhanded, what they would do with a DEMO environment is just give you the fill at the ask each time you fire a buy order and the bid each time you fire a sell order. Wouldn't be real at all, but they could do just that. But they can't replicate the process of firing orders at banks when hundreds of orders are passing at the same time.

Reputation has nothing to do with demo vs live price feeds. Our price feeds will always be different, simply for the fact that live customers posting their own bids/offers will have a direct affect on the price shown. Even more so when they post between the spread.

If demo vs live was an indicator of a brokers reputation, wouldn't that mean brokers who requote you, trade against you and make a profit off your losses, but offer the exact same demo and live would be considered reputable. That doesn't seem very accurate.

I still disagree. I understand that when it comes down to the nitty gritty there are differences in actual fills especially on MB since each Live order effects the quote but if the Demo triggers 10 orders - I expect the Live to trigger 10 too. If the Demo triggers 10 and the Live triggers 2 - I feel I'm being screwed with. I understand that the fills will be different but I fully expect the number of orders and the trigger point to be similar. Or whats the point?

And for the most part this is what I see on the better brokers BUT some brokers will have the pretty unfiltered Demo and a overly price smoothed Live feed. I think thats screwing with me. I want to see a similar number of triggered orders and roughly similar trigger points. (Now once again with feeling) - Soooo... I understand that Demo is NOT Live but I tend to find that if I run my EA on 10 Demo platforms. The top 3 demo results is a nice indication that my EA will run better Live on those Brokers than on the bottom 3. (ATC and Collective FX are especially good at tuning the Demo/Live performance. Most Demo Entry attempts are VERY similar to the Live attempted entry point)

That is easy to say after the fact, however I had a 15 to 20 sec window to actually make that entry. By the time it took me to close my navigator, and reboot it( about 50 secs later). Then it was fine, but the entry point is way gone now. So what good what it do to contact the help desk then? So I would like to know how the help desk, in an example scenario, would have helped me right there?

Justin please do not get me wrong, I still believe in MB Trading and still content with MB Trading, however when I have a valid signal go off, and I can not enter, it is quite frustrating to say the least, because my target TP was hit. In other words a lost opportunity.

for some reason that's a demo... i don't understand peoples concerns over a demo platform, when it is well known that's where they make their experiences etc...

Finally got my account funded. Quick question before I do a trade - is 1.0 lot 100k, 0.1 lot 10k, and .01 1,000?

Or is there a preference to make 1 lot = 10k and 0.1 = 1k?

1 lot = 10,000 currency units
10 lots = 100,000 currency units
