But, on a serious note, Pesto sauce went through a number of prototypes before the finished product was released, same with Scotch Whisky.
I'm not trying to dampen anyone's fun here, but outside of Air (which we didn't make) nothing has been made, that in it's original design, was already perfect. We started off with a Rock Wheel, now we have rubber wheels with traction. We started with loin cloth, and now have shoes, hats, glasses etc. We started with a horse and buggy, now we have cars, boats, and airplanes.
The world was once flat, now it's round...
The point here, is Human is subject to error, MASSIVE error, as a result, nothing we make could ever be perfect. Which tells me everything can be made better.
Just because someone thinks a system is "as good as it gets"... doesn't by any stretch of the imagination mean that it is, in fact, as good as it gets... maybe nobody has tried, maybe nobody has been successful. How many people tried to fly before we got it right?
Naive people tend to not get very far because they get stopped by fundamental basics.

Whoa, Pharoah, I'm into hyperbole as much as the next guy, but the world was once flat????
And as for the Arch. I'm assuming you mean the architectural design, the same design that took a number of centuries of carpenters to come up with. But.. when you're right, you're right. It is one of the only things (of the millions and millions of things we've made) that it in itself was the best design and required no additional modification to keep up with the times. But this is also assuming the Arch had no predecessors, such as the doorway. The Arch in itself is a modification of an original design.

It may be of benefit to be a math ignoramus. I have a good friend here in Guanajuato who is a brilliant mathematician and teaches at the University here . . . anyway, he recently did some serious damage to a car he borrowed for several weeks because he didn't know that water occasionally needed to be added to the engine.
Brilliant in one aspect of his life . . . totally bonkers in others. Maybe normalcy isn't a bad place to be . . . I know it's where I'm trying to get to.
