I've got a question. Assume I've placed these orders:
1. 1 Lot Buy Stop @ 91.00 USDJPY
2. 1 Lot Buy Stop @ 92.00 USDJPY
3. 1 Lot Sell Stop @ 89.00 USDJPY
4. 1 Lot Sell Stop @ 88.00 USDJPY

Why MBT is calculation $4000 for used margin (instead of $2000)? There won't be opened more than 2 Lots in one direction at any time! The open position size can vary from -2 Lots to +2 Lots.

The same is with opened Position and placed TP and SL.
Assume this example:
1. Opened position Long 1 Lot @ 91.00 USDJPY
2. TP - Limit Order Sell 1 Lot @ 92.00 USDJPY
3....
I'm assuming no this can not be changed due to compliance and risk issues, but let me look into this a bit more.

Thanks for the suggestions. Managed to get enough liquidity to close the position at a 20 pip loss - would have closed at my take profit of 100 pips if everything had been ok. Chalked up to experience and will definitely be careful about trading that pair again with this company. Alpari were allowing trades on this pair throughout the whole period.

Possibly. Alpari is an entirely different kind of entity. Darkstar wrote a really good article the brokers forum. Here is a link. A good and accurate read.

Justin - thx for all your helpful replies. Are there any plans to allow for web-access to place/modify trades in forex? I have heard they are working on something similar for equities and am wondering if Forex is also in the works...

Would be a god-send for those of us behind a firewall at work. As far as i can tell the equities web-based solution has been in beta for over a year now - any estimates on when this will be widely available? I am dying for access!

Yes, as a matter of fact, it looks like you’ll have a solution for this quite soon. The product you have heard about is not just for Equities…it is also for FX. And since we have now blended Navigator with MetaTrader accounts, although you can’t trade them through Nav yet (you can only view them), that is coming, so you will even be able to view your MetaTrader account through the web app. Coming very soon.

In the Navigator Demo, I keep getting the following problems from time to time:

Orderbook:
Event: Suspended (or GTC Held)
Message: Suspended for reason: Session Closed

Right now all of my open orders are "suspended," I can't figure out why exactly this keeps happening. It has nothing to do with the rollover period that happens every day around 5:00pm EST.

I have an open position that is still open, but any trailing stops or limit/stop orders I enter to try to exit the position get "suspended."

Are these "suspensions" supposed to happen from time to time in the demo environment, or is it just me?

I hope this kind of thing doesn't happen in the live environment ... does it?

they have a shout down every day at 4:55pm to 5:05 to account for rollover and other stuff.

Yes, I am aware of that, but that typically only lasts for a few minutes. I watched the rollover period today as it happened, and it only lasted for two minutes or so.

Whereas according to my orderbook, my open orders were "suspended" at about 4:00pm EST, over two hours ago, and since the last time I checked, I still haven't been able to place effective orders.

Normally when you place an order, it should say "accepted" or "live" in the specified column instead of "suspended." I'm trying to figure out if this happening time and time again is specific to my account or if this is a regular occurance.

I just checked the orderbook again, and it says event Session Open and message GTC Session Open at about 7:00pm EST. My open order is currently live.

So the session was "closed" or "suspended" from 4:00pm EST to 7:00pm EST. The rollover period is contained within this time, not sure if that makes a difference.

I will continue to monitor it, but I really don't log in or make that many trades right now using the demo, and because the orderbooks are cleared every day at around 5:00pm EST, it's hard to keep track.

Hail Justin. I'm having the same issue here with MT4 Demo-trading. Whenever I place a order it will flash "Order is accepted" then "Off Quotes". I'm using market orders.

Hi Justin,

In filling out my application for the new MT4 Beta I see that the unit size is listed as 100K. It seems to me that on the MBT beta MT4 demo platform the unit size was 10K just like on your Navigator platform. Is this a change?

This is being changed. Just like the Navigator, you'll be able to trade as little as .1 lot or 1000 currency units.
