EUR/USD slips back slightly after strong run

Nothing ever moves in straight lines for too long and EUR/USD has slipped back to 1.4795 from a session high 1.4821.
There is said to be digital option interest at 1.4825, with a large German bank said to have sold just ahead of it.
I thought the BIS might have been a seller around the highs. They have a tendancy to step in when things look to be getting a little out of hand i.e one-way traffic, but haven’t been able to get confirmation of such.

Diversification again the theme in EUR/USD

Traders report very strong interest overnight from Asian regional central banks to buy dollars against their local currencies ( to maintain export competitiveness) and diversify a percentage of the proceeds into EUR to less dollar reserve exposure. This helped set the stage for the latest leg higher in EUR/USD.
Traders note an option expiry at 1.4825 this morning, so we may see some magnetic attraction toward that level as the clock strikes 10 am in New York.
EUR/USD trades at 1.4801.

  2. Consensus is US economy is growing
  3. At the very beginning of the recovery
  4. Need to ensure recovery is self-sustaining

EUR/USD continues to hold above intraday support at 1.4770 and changes hands now at 1.4795.

I was sleeping, but I left a pending order. Recovering from yesterday lost , yesterday the market hit me hard, I recovered almost 70% today with this trade.

Sept. 22 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks rose, extending a global advance in equities, on signs the world economy is improving and analyst upgrades of companies from Macy’s Inc. to Hewlett-Packard Co. The dollar fell to a one-year low against the euro, while oil, gold, copper and Treasuries gained.

EUR/USD visiting range base near 1.4770

Pull backs have been extremely shallow over the last 24 hours, barely to the 1.4770 level. We are near those lows once again amid some frustration that the pace of the EUR rally has slowed. An overnight spike to 1.4840 was quickly rebuffed and traders are growing a bit bored.
Some of the profit-taking this morning seems to be linked to the Fed’s laying the groundwork for a partial exit strategy from its super-loose policy by talking with primary dealers about setting up reserve-draining reverse repurchase agreements.
Support is eyed at 1.4740 and 1.4720 is profit-taking accelerates; some see a pullback toward the 1.4600 evel by the middle of next week before a fresh assault on 1.4865.

less bond demand perhaps = less dollar demand.

Sept. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Government bonds declined after a surprise rebound in New Zealand’s economy underpinned evidence that the global recovery is accelerating. European and emerging market stocks gained.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Oil prices tumbled below $69 per barrel Wednesday on a U.S. government report showing demand for energy remains weak.

Benchmark crude for November delivery fell nearly 4 percent, or $2.78, to $68.98 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract added $1.83 a barrel to settle at $71.76 on Tuesday.

Crude supplies for the week ended Friday grew by 2.8 million barrels, according to the Energy Information Administration. Analysts were expecting a 2.25 million-barrel drop, according to a survey by Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hills Cos.
