Oh yes... I'm a bit angry about myself. I'm THE Euro bull itself. And I shorted this beloved currency since 1.44... Being against the trend is sometimes very painful. As I said I don't expect a full change of the trend but a decent dip to at least 1.45 should be in the cards.

well ... the fundamentals are for stronger EUR and against USD ... so the long view is (still) for higher EURUSD ... but I think, we will have chances for a retracement in the next days and then we can take another dip

Right Dieter! Lets see if it goes down to 1.45. That's the area I'd go long again, maybe earlier.

There are some nice 400 pip ranges forming on pairs I trade (eur/usd, aud/usd and usd/jpy). I sold out of most of my aud longs this week. I've been selling eur/usd the past week also and been took profits on the usd/jpy longs (still buying dips though). I've gone from short usd exposure to long in the form of more euro and jpy shorts. Still hanging onto some aud long incase I don't get a euro downside breakout in the next week or so.
edit: I figure if eur breaks/holds 1.48 again I might need to get neutral or short usd.

Hi Xaron,

Thank you so much for sharing this system! I have been trading for about half a year and like everybody out there, I have been trying different systems for all this time without any luck only to watch my money draining, although it is draining slower and slower now.

I finally realized that the most important thing is to know myself. I am that kind of person who hates to make mistakes -- when everything goes my way I am happy and feeling everything under control but if there is a little mistake I freak out. But trading is all about probobilities, one cannot be right all the time. I have thought of giving up, but decided to hang in there for a little longer.

Knowing myself, I think the median grid system fits my personality very well, and it helps me to keep myself in the comfort zone. So thank you so much for sharing!

Just one stupid question. When you talk about position size, you mentioned 0.5:1 or 2:1 or 5:1. What do you mean exactly? I use Oanda too, for example using Oanda, how do I calculate it so that I know how many units I should use if I want to do 2:1?

You just double the amount of money you have in the account (if 2:1). If you have $10,000 then a 2 to 1 ration would be 20,000 units.

Nice thread.

Just a reminder to anyone to make sure they look at the lessons in BWILC about leverage and margin.

I say this as one who was relatively slow myself to learn this lesson. For reasons I won't go into in detail here, I was lucky in my early trading career to get away with not abiding by these rules, which just meant that I got bitten by them later, at a time when I thought I knew what I was doing.

So, just be careful out there in lion-hunting country!

I'm not currently trading specifically in the way Du Toit talks about, since I seem to have evolved my own style (which seems to have certain things in common with his, anyway), but I will be interested to see how it pans out for those who currently are.

I am currently trading BWILC on 2 demos and trying slowly to do it on live with $600.
it looks like I gotta be more patient with opening positions. on my first account 1 position taken too early spoiling the whole picture. probably should have used lower leverage. It is 0.:3:1 and I set stop for it at 500 pips just above resistance. what do you think, $1500 per position on $100 000 account too much or ok?
I have currently floating size 1.5% of my balance on account 1 and 1% on account too. account 1, 5% up and account 2 3.2% up.
the most tricky is when to cut position and how long let winners run. I usually take them out after they reach 0.5% maximum. usually even at 0.15-0.2 to keep things up daily.

Hi Xaron,

Congrats on your journey to getting your 1M...

I have 2 questions for you:

1. If for example, you are currently on long bias for E/U and now the prices are hovering around the upper area of Q3 and lower Q4, do you wait for the signs of prices coming back-up or you just blindly put on a long position with lower gear even though the prices are obviously heading down?

2. How do you deal with market turning around, say for example, now we have a LONG bias towards E/U and say, the previous high was the highest price when the price is turning to SHORT bias, at this point we really don't know if E/U is about to turn around, and there are no signs fundamentals telling us to go bear.
When do you have to be cautious to not "cost average"? Because if you keep cost averaging for each quadrant, you would end-up losing all the positions with a pretty big loss, am I right?
