This is essentially ViperGrid with the entry filters and risk mitigation turned off. I made some minor changes and removed the OrdersReliable and the bug you noticed disappeared ! I think OrdersReliable is not so reliable !! I want to verify that for sure before releasing.

Next release is V2.1 because there is no real new functionality, just the lot size bug fix, input parameters documented better (via comments in the source file), added Starting Lot size in case you prefer that over percent equity to risk. Hopefully tomorrow, Friday at the latest.

Ok what in case spread is not same that time when one order level is triggered and now ea nees to place 3 trades !

By fixing the spread for order placement, all future orders will be placed on the grid, even is there is a wild spread at the time of placement. This way all orders will be triggered at the same time. Granted you profit or loss will be slightly different depending on the spread you are paying at the moment of liquidation.

I am calling the entire position, the entire set of trades from the first initial ones placed until they are all closed, one "trade set". I have spent some time adding detailed comments to the input parameters so it should answer all your questions with the next release.

Viper, is the Orderreliable function the one that makes sure pending orders and their respective sl/tp go to the same place everytime?

If it is, then we'll need to find a workaround. Not having this in the orignal mgrid is a major bug, so when spreads are widened it places pending orders with sl/tp all over the place really messing up the scheme of things.


About the double grid, i usually trade anywhere upto .12 lots, although i've come down to earth with a couple of scares a few weeks ago.

So i am running this double grid using vGridv1.0 default of 0.01 lots for both grids. Alot less risk than i usually take. Next week i plan to implement 4 grids at 0.01 each. The advantage is, (aslong as the starting levels for each new grid holds), that once all 4 grids are rolling, if on any of the grids you get a move from b2 to s2, you will have a sequence close. Running 4 grids will still be a lot less risk than i usually take. I've demo'd this for a while and think its actually safer then running a single grid which ranges between b2 and s2.

Hi All,

I've been reading up on this thread and am very interested in the recent revival of this EA.. I believe it could work.. We just need to figure out a way to rid of the "Death Trade"..

Viper, I have a quick look into the code of your EA.. I like your Auto concept whereby the increment is basically calculated based on 50% of Average Daily Range.. I have a suggestion.. in order to reduce risk (would also reduce profit) instead of using 50%, why not use less maybe a range of 30% to 50% (user selectable?)

Also I believe that Brokers with Sunday Bars will mess up the Calculation of ADR somehow..

I read somewhere in the early days of this thread (I forgot which post), about the use of Damiani Volatmeter.. I think it's a nice way to detect the Volatility that this EA needs to feed on to survive.. Based on simple visual backtest, it seems to make sense to me

Perhaps you can have a look at it?

I was wondering if you could add a Breake Even profit to the EA. This way if the trade is in profit by $X, we can set an exit if the price starts to reverse before it hits the final TPSL. Exemple: BEtriger=10; BEexit=1, this is in $ value.

OK, Here is the latest...
1. Bug fix for multiple lots -
2. Added MinLotSize parameter - can use both MinLotSize and still use percent equity to risk
3. Added detailed documentation to parameter section of the code - explaining each parameter in much more detail.
4. Defaulted all parameter values so it should behave same as original - although I do recommend you set MaxSpreadToOpen, since the original spread will be used for your grid for every future order.
5. Added parameter to turn OrdersReliable on/off, the code that is supposed to make sure all orders are placed correctly and validate that. It does seem to work with OrdersReliable turned on, so it may still be a safer way to trade.

I think that's everything....

If there are any questions regarding the purpose or meaning of any parameter AFTER reading the comments on it, feel free to ask.

If you discover any other bugs, please let me know as soon as you can so I can address it. Thanks.

Hi WCG,

Thanks for the suggestion. It would not be hard to code. But you might reduce profitability a lot. I do already have a parameter that says if we start getting to many positions, exit at the first profit.

And of course it almost always runs a profit first before it reverses, so if your numbers weren't set well you may never exit with a full profit.

Any one else have thoughts on WCG's suggestion ?

Again, thanks for thinking :-) If others agree it may be helpful, I'll code it. I just also want to be careful to end up with an EA with 500 parameters :-)

Eliminating the "Death Trade" and remaining profitable will be the key to this systems practicality. I have not looked into Damiani too much. Have you used it with good success ?

It seems you're less likely to run into the Death Trade (or at least slow it's coming) with larger increments raather than smaller... It could be adjustable I suppose...

Viper, thank you for your quick reply. I don't mean to close single trades that are in profit, but when a set of trade is in profit. Very often you will see the price reverse just a few pips before the final TP.

Viper one more thing. Is it possible to change the order placement system on this EA?.
The reason I'm asking is because currently for example if you are using one level (I use 3 levels) the EA places the order this way: first 0.01 if the order is trigger then it places 0.01;0.01;0.01;0.01 on the apposite side and then if it need 0.06 it paces 0.01 six times. This way the EA will use up the maximum allow order that the broker allow too fast. FXDD only allow 200 max order, 100 long and 100 short. So instead of placing the orders this way, just place 0.06 in place of 6X0.01. I hope you can understand what I mean, if not I can try to explain it again.

I have never seen the issue you are raising. I'm not sure I have ever run the EA with 1 level either. I'll run it and see if I can duplicate your issue.

Normally it does place single orders with an even multiple of your min lot size (like you are requesting). It does place multiple orders because they are placed at the different price levels. I have never seen it place multiple min lot orders at the same price level. Look carefully at your data to be sure of what is happening.

Its may sound like a strange one, but is it possible to have an input for the colour of the lines drawn on the chart for the b/s/tp levels. It should help me with identifying which grid is doing what when i'm running the doubleG system.


perhaps if the ea could draw a horizontal line on the chart every time it starts a new set at the starting price. (the colour of the line should be changeable)

And yes... its relieving that put in the Meaning of each setting, in d code itself.
Any way i have following queries:

1) Settings INCREMENT
Increment=0 means auto computed"
If its 50% of ADR, Can we have a option in setting to set the %age of ADR?

2) Setting : MinHourToStart and MaxHourToStart
What happens to logic of ea ..when a trading set is on (trades on) and time frame ends?
It will not open any more and let the current set end at TP of any side(except if some watermark/maxlot setting is on)?
am i right?

3) Setting: UseVolatilityFilter
"If set true, trades will only be taken if the current prices of CURRENT CHART TIMEFRAME exceed volatility thresholds - Definition of volatility based on Bollinger Bands."

What Definition/rules have you put into this for initialization of a trade set?

4)Setting : UseTrendFilter
"If set true, trades will only be taken if the current prices of CURRENT CHART TIMEFRAME appear to be trending based on some standard indicators"

What standard indicators you used for this and their settings?

5) When we talk of Settings in point 3 and 4, I believe these settings only are a trigger for Start of trade set and Exit is purely based on logical math i.e hitting of TP on any side(except if some watermark/maxlot setting is on)... am i Right?

6) Setting : MaxSetEntryCount
Though i think its like a modified"CONTINUE FUNCTIOn" of original Mgrid Ea, i would still like to confirm!
So within a tradeable time period, If say it is set to 2, EA will open 2 trading sets, one after another.. Right?
(of course if 1st one ends before the time period ends)

7)Since the Water mark Settings are based of calculation of margin%age first and then Looking at profits and loss to "Close All trade"
Is there any chance of Adding Simple, MaxLoss and Max profit Settings ?
Which will help a lot when volatility goes down and markets start ranging after a bad entry and we want to Close Whole set based on parameter $Amount as Maxloss or MaxProfit as soon as they come into picture as Floating P/L?

AND
Its not easy to do this... say if we use some scripts for this... What will happen to MaxSetEntryCount.
Does it automatically detect that one set is over ?

8) Just like Point 3 and 4th Filters. Can you kindly add a ATR based Filter To it for initiation of trade set?
A setting for Atr value in Settings instead of some fixed 20 or 14 value will be lot better!
ATR should be based on the time frame the EA is dropped on (or that can also be added as a setting parameter- M1, M5, H1..etc)

Have been testing mGRID EA first version this week on demo.
Tried the upgrade as well but I cant put it in on a chart, there is no reaction.
Are there some other way to set the upgrade in the chart?

All version posted in whole thread work as far as opening orders are concerned !
Check the following again :
1) In Tools >Options> Expert advisor Tab , Enable Expert Advisor is Turned on.
and so are the following options

2) Increment in settings is appropriate and wait for it to trade.
Increment of 35 on a 4 digit broker wont give u quick trades. Wait and watch or Lower the increment value
(of course not <normal stop distance required)

3) If using new versions like time window based... check you are trading it within the time zone , etc


Still have problems..would be more prudent to ask in programming section !
