One clear message from the US: No worries on the dollar

The Obama made no effort to warn markets that tensions with China over tire exports to the US were coming to a head before slapping tariffs on those goods late Friday. Even your dimmest White House political hack had to take into account the likely reaction of the financial markets to the news. Hell, I figured it out Saturday morning with my four-year old tugging on my leg while I was writing the article…
With the dollar already under pressure, the lack of groundwork-laying from the administration, which is populated by seasoned pros like Geithner and Summers, sends a clear message to the markets: we don’t care about the dollar,and won’t until its fall becomes disorderly.

Sept. 14 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks fluctuated as gains in utilities and industrial companies helped the market overcome an early slump spurred by concern the recent rally outpaced prospects for earnings growth.

Still a lot of interest to buy EUR/USD

The dips in the EUR/USD are not lasting very long and the supposed big stops above 1.4720 are surely going to come into play quite soon. Trying to pick a top whilst this buying interest still exists is a dangerous exercise

Sept. 15 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Treasury Department and Citigroup Inc. have begun discussing how to sell the 34 percent stake that the government acquired in the rescue of the bank, people familiar with the matter said.

German ZEW data weaker than expected

ZEW institute September German economic sentiment index has come in at 57.7, up from 56.1 in August ,but worse than the median forecast of 60.0.
September current conditions indicator has come in at -74.0 versus -77.2 in August, worse than median forecast of -67.5.
EUR/USD has sold off on the disappointing numbers, presently at 1.4585 from around 1.4605 post release.
Earlier I had reports of buy orders lined up at 1.4570 down through 1.4550. Will be interesting to see if they stick around in the wake of the disappointing data.

No Dutch treat in 2010; sees EUR/USD at 1.40

The Dutch government forecasts zero GDP growth for 2010, an unemployment rate of 8% and a deficit of 6.2% of GDP.
Inflation should run 1%, they forecast.
The base their assumptions on a EUR/USD exchange rate of 1.40.

US business inventories continue to slip

EUR/USD trades in the 1.4580s after swinging in a range between 1.4560 and 1.4615 in the last hour. Options have expired, so perhaps there is a slightly more open playing field to the downside now that the 1.4560s have been wiped from the books.

is it me or am i seeing lower highs and lower lows in the m15 for today
