OK, the London open trade was stopped out for a 1% loss on the move down this morning.

However, the daily long still active from 1.43361, stop loss currently 1.44640. If the euro continues to rally this afternoon and we've already seen the lows for today, I can move my stop loss to around 1.4516 area, locking in a total of 7%+.

Currently up just over 10% and a break of 1.46 would be sweet......

Hi Sam,

Massive rejection at 1.46 & some mad moves the past hour. No worries, if stop loss is hit today then still a nice 5% banked.

1.45 holding so far but for how long who knows?

I'll see where we are at the end of the day.

Well since I last wrote, we've bounced from 1.45 & attempted to break 1.4610 twice more before closing at around 1.4580. Dow has also closed just below the highs.

So, tomorrow will we try and break 1.4610 again and see 1.47** or have we peaked?

Either way, long from 1.43361 now has stop loss at 1.44998 with 163.7 pips locked in (6.54%). I'll let the market decide when it has given me enough.

I'll be back at London open for my usual trade.

Yes I did get your email with your backtesting on dollar yen. It certainly looks like you're onto something there

I wouldn't trade that purely because it would mean getting up in the middle of the night for Tokyo open.

One thing I did notice - were you setting a target of 75 pips? Now you need to test the same data with different exit parameters. Is it better to have a target or let some run?

I'm happy letting them run on EU but obviously there will be times when it reverses on me & I take a lesser profit or even a loss. As I say I'm happy as data both backtesting and live suggests I'll be OK long term.

Well looks like the London open trade was spiked out on US news this afternoon for a 1% loss. Not the best week for the method - 4 losses (4%) & 1 winner (3.34%). Mind you, last week was a good one so musn't grumble.

The daily trade marches on from 1.43361. Assuming we've seen the low for today I'll be able to move stop loss up to 1.45505, locking in a 214.4 pip profit (8.58%)

Overall, both methods are in profit and things are going pretty well methinks. Have a great weekend all!

OK, stop loss moved to 1.45505 just before close. Almost certain that the run will be over Sunday night or Monday but who knows? It's been a good week

Sure,

The 'London open' method I've been trading since June 15th. It's not been as profitable as I'd hoped so far but we've been in a nasty summer range.

In that time I've had 59 trades, 20 of which have been winners (33.91% win rate). Total pips gained 312.6, totalling 12.50% profit. Nothing spectacular yet but profitable.

The 'Daily' method I only started on 20th August so real early days. However so far up just over 3%, again very acceptable as both methods require little screen time.

That's really good, I reckon if you "only" had 20/59 winners you are more likely to have a robust system...


I also trade at specific times because I trade stocks during daytime... 2 set times 08:00 & 19:00 sydney time...

I have 4 mechanical systems and 1 with Price action which is very new for me in FX but I like it very much as i like to believe the human brain should easily beat indicators

I will be reading your posts, keep up the good work!

OK, 'daily' long from 1.43361 was stopped out during Asia at 1.45505 and new short position will be entered at end of today's daily bar.

London open trade just opened - short from 1.45467, stop loss 1.45717
