slight resistance now... area of previous highs

Well, if one follows the stream of positive news this few days, one will consider 1.45 in the books..


Sept. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Stocks rose worldwide for a fourth day as higher metals and computer-memory prices boosted the earnings outlook for raw-material and technology companies. Gold climbed above $1,000 an ounce for the first time in six months.

This may have effect on oil prices, rising. Provided Russia does not raise it's output.



Sept. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Oil prices are within a “satisfactory range,” OPEC President and Angolan Oil Minister Jose Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos said in Luanda today before leaving for the group’s meeting in Vienna.
Compliance with production cuts agreed by members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries through December 2008 has dropped to 70 percent, according to the minister. He called that a “significant volume,” for the group.




Sept. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Russia is surpassing Saudi Arabia in oil exports for the first time since the Soviet Union’s collapse as Prime Minister Vladimir Putin exploits OPEC production cuts to gain market share.

That’s what Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. executives predicted before they filed the biggest bankruptcy in U.S. history. “Impacts all financial institutions,” read one bullet point in a confidential memo prepared for government officials obtained by Bloomberg News. “Retail investors/retirees assets are devastated.”
The message didn’t get through. Two dozen of the world’s most powerful bankers, brought together by Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. and Federal Reserve Bank of New York President Timothy F. Geithner the weekend of Sept. 13, 2008, to devise a rescue plan for Lehman, were too busy saving themselves to see the larger threat.
“The discussion among the CEOs was ‘How do we prevent the next firm from going under?’” former Merrill Lynch & Co. Chief Executive Officer John A. Thain, who cut a deal to sell his company that weekend, said in an interview. “There should have been much more discussion about the impact directly on the markets if Lehman went bankrupt.”

Alcoa, the largest U.S. aluminum producer, is raising its forecast for global consumption of the metal on stronger demand from China. GM, the biggest overseas automaker in China, says the nation’s vehicle sales may reach 12 million, surpassing the U.S. as the world’s No. 1 market.
