DislikedOff topic post here, but I think a useful one. www.dshort.com is a site I frequently refer to in my travels. Attached is a their chart which shows seasonality in the S&P500.
I do not really understand the connection between forex and the stock markets (was told that when euro indices like DAX go up, EUR should be strong?).

This is true.
The primary reason for this correlation is the market phenomenon that has developed since the beginning of the financial crisis. At the beginning of the crisis money needed a place to go out of the higher risk investment categories (i.e stocks, high yielding currencies AUD, ZAR, CAD, NZD etc) and found its way into the lower yielding safe investments being corporate bonds, government bonds, and low yielding currencies such as the USD, JPY and CHF.
