Did you switch TF's to refresh the data?

I don't know which version on MTF Trix you have, the latest one recoded by Miss Pips is very neat as you don't have to put the [next] higher TF in --although you still have to put a 0 level in

OK back to THV.

I am starting to like the EG, thanks Irishpips for bringing it to my attention.
The EG is not moving much which seems to bother many people as I do not see it on the forum very often, however the pip value is very high so effectively you make more money than meets the pip, ehm eye

We had another bounce before it finally broke out to the upside.
Both was tradable. I took the downmove after it bounced off the trendline again, was good for 20 odd pips. M15 gave a fairly ok THV signal, but I was confident as price was just below the pivot line and seemed to have accepted that fact.

I did not take the break of the trendline, as I was out but THV gave a very nice signal. Beware of retests of trendlines though!!

Many people soley trade bounces off pivot lines and I know a few that make hundrets of pips per day of it. I am somewhere in between, I do NOT take thv signals blindly. If you do, you will lose I believe.
However you can take bounces and breaks off trendlines and trade them without any indicator. It takes a lot of practice though.
This is where THV comes to the rescue. Trade bounces/breaks off t/l's with a valid THV signal and you will dramatically improve your results.

I just thought I'd post a concern I have for those looking for an easy sytem to trade that doesn't require thought.

There's a "new flavor of the month" in FF, and I've gone in there to try to help out, but have chosen now not to post there anymore for the sheer number of new Forex-ers trying to find the Holy Grail.

Come September when everyone's off of vacation IMO, this system will sink.

The risk to reward ratio is terrible risking 4:1 or 6:1...trades should be 1:1 maybe 2:1

It's also meant to be traded without regard to anything to do with PA, only what you see on the screen.

This is only working now because the market is [mostly] ranging and PA is choppy. There were a lot of gripes yesterday because of the strong trends and the system didn't fare well. The author of the system stresses simplicity- which I agree with--and taking small bites--also a good point-- but with no regard to Forex fundamentals and just blindly clicking the Buy/Sell button and risking so much for so little doesn't sit well with me.

This is just meant to be a caution, as I'm not naysaying the system.

I think you kind of missed the point of my posts today IrishPips, which were not about the 'Holy Grail'. McFly stated he was having trouble and asked some other traders to share what is working for them, so I decided to put in on the line and share, in 'real time' my thinking process for the trades I was taking or not taking today as I was taking (or not taking) them.

It also has nothing to do with 'understanding *fully* how to interpret the Trix indicator'. I saw those other trades too - that's why I mentioned that a trader who trades like Cashmeer using trendlines and divergence would have a field day today.

What it has to do with is

1) Recognizing what type of market you are in and

2) Trading the appropriate style of trade for that market - i.e trendline breaks/divergence trades in a choppy market and trades only with the trend only on a strongly trending day. ( You have to be a pretty experienced trader to do this, which McFly has stated he is not.)

OR (A BIG OR)

3) Simply deciding which style of trading you prefer and waiting for market conditions that conform to the type of trading you like to do. I personally have just decided that I find it more comfortable to trade the 1 m when there is a recognizable trend (which I have clearly defined in terms of how the rainbow should look in order for me to consider it a trend) and that's why I didn't take those other trades.

As for keeping it simple I think throughout the thread you will find people advising newer traders to stick to simple trades with the trend, and avoid the trickier trades like divergence trades which were the kind of trades that were working best today.

Trend trades are usually more worthwhile too - note that if you had been trading several lots, and intending to hang onto one of them none of those other trades you could have taken would have gone anywhere today. The one trade I saw which conformed to my definition of a trend on the 1 m tf was unfortunately a retrace trade contra to the daily trend so it didn't go too far either. However, in it's favor it also did not go against me at all, which is more than I can say for many of the other possible trades today. And on yesterday's trend trade there were 100 plus pips in that second lot, depending where you got in.

The *BIG* problem of course is if you are going to keep it simple and trade with the trend - How do you know when you have a trend? I find the rainbow 'as is' the best method I have seen for distinguishing between trending PA and choppy PA, so that's why I use it for analysis and that's why I shared my definition of a trend using it. I'm sure that if anyone else has other methods of distinguishing between the two we would all enjoy seeing screenshots, especially in real time as it is happening.

As a newbie I found it very informative. I would be interested to see other experienced traders 'real-time' thinking as well. Personally, I took no trades today.

That took a while for 15 pips...

Considerations:

1.) Divergence in the 5 min.
2.) Divergence in the 15 Min Analysis Chart
3.) Break of PA T/L
4.) Rejection in the 1hr of an RSI T/L

BTW: My ATC Pivot prices and ODL Pivot prices are about 5 pips more off...That really annoys me...

Very reasonable trade cash, even that PA dropped more, TP at DP is always a good bet and you can get in again after a solid break.

This one was a classic. For advocates of trading longer tfs, what trading this way actually does is give you a trade based on the 30m THV signal (that's the meaning of waiting for PA to clear the MAs since they represent the 5, 15 and 30m corals), entered at the first significant retrace on the 1m chart after the signal was given on the 30 m. Notice how these trades all look exactly alike

Considerations:

1.) 5 min Divergence
2.) 1 min Divergence
3.) 1 hour Divergence
4.) 1 hour bounce off of T/L

5 pip S/L

these darn Pivot point prices are messing with my head...on ATC it is at 1.4398 and on ODL it's at 1.4404

Here are the two I use. One uses the MTF trix because I like to see the shape of the trix and one uses the trix histo because it updates the current situation a bit better than the MTF trix.

We are at weekly R2 in case of a break the next big stone in the bear way is R1 (the red bar), comes together with some fibs, would make a 100 pips ride if it gets to there.

Guys, I have two slightly unrelated THV questions.
1) For some reason my bid line has disappeared on my charts. How can I get it back?

2) Is it possible in MT4 to change the order of the indicators without having to recreate everything from scratch?
