Agreed. Of the CHF bars that printed GBPCHF seemed to me to be the better option.

this is not to bad either BUT I dont like that it closed above 1.53.
would rather wait & see if it closes as a pin & lower then 1.53 on the daily.

Hi all

I have scanned through the first couple hundred pages of this thread.

I like the price action stuff very much - it makes sense to me, though I haven't really traded it much - just a tiny bit in a demo a/c - basic reversal candles on lower timeframes on some currencies.

I just wondered if the PF is still as active and popular as it was in the first couple hundred pages, and still come highly recommended? Could I manage by reading some carefully selected posts and posters here, or elsewhere, or any documents/books I can read to study the basics? Also any simple strategies that work best with these kind of price action methods?

I did look at the web site and left a message for James and one other (forgotten who) a week or more ago, but have had no reply. All pointers would be greately appreciated.

If the cost is not too much for you to swallow (I think it is dirt cheap myself...I made the entire year's worth of fees back in my first J16 trade). It is a great resource. Some of the senior members do webinars which make for some great discussions. You can start up your own trading journal and get feedback from others. There are a bunch of trading resources beyond trade entry.

If you are serious about applying J16 principals the PF is worth every penny.

It does indeed make sense, good your getting practise in although it is common consensus in the thread to start off trading the Daily's first, PA carries more weight there and it's easier to see the good areas, if you are trading 1HR you get loads of failed pins etc that fail simply due to bad areas (lack of orderflow really)

I wasn't around at the start but I would say it's more popular and more active than it was at the start. You could indeed manage with this thread only but as I said on a post of mine that Jim put on the front page about the PF, the stuff is way more concentrated over there. It's a lot easier (well for me it was anyway) to learn from the videos, I am a very visual guy and a lot of stuff made sense through the videos. It's totally worth it and I'll be re-signing up once I get some profits out of my account

Jim always returned e-mails within half an hour for me so thats weird, PM Mike and he will usually reply back swiftly !

Hey James and welcome.

James replies to all his email, it's just that sometimes it takes a little time because he gets so many of them.

In the meantime let me weigh in as someone who has been a PF member for over a year. I get no money from PF and I don't teach there. I am just a very satisfied customer. In fact I don't think you'd find many who joined who say otherwise.

I think it's misleading to think that PF is where all the action is. A lot of resources are available to you here, through the thread. Mike is always on here, and there is probably more posting on the thread than on PF (which can be both a good and a bad thing). In fact most people would tell you to hang in the thread for a while and read and assimilate what you can, start demoing, and then see if you still like it in a couple of months. PF will still be there.

What PF is, is an amazing library and support network. There are weekly video webinars with Mike and often ones with Jim too. They are al archived along with over a hundred other videos. There is a really good trading psychology section which in my opinion is worth the entry alone, and there are so many people on hand to help with stuff. I am really glad I joined. Added to that is the fact that Jim is always looking for ways to take it forward and there are some exciting plans for the future.

My take is always the same. If you are sufficiently capitalised that the monthly fee isn't going to hit you too hard then go for it, join up. But if it will be a stretch, then spend your time learning here first, because you don't need anything else. There is no secret recipe in the PF without which you cannot succeed, although there are advanced techniques.

Please feel free to shoot me a pm to ask about it too. I'm happy to answer any questions.

I always feel a little wary about these posts, because Jim doesn't do any pushing of the PF himself. But as someone who once faced the forest of forex educators and had to fight his way through the crowd of hucksters and snake oil salesmen, I consider it my duty to let you know when there is something that I do think is worth the entrance fee. And this is coming from someone who lost A LOT of money in the markets before finding my way home.

Sure it is still up and very good. (Been there for a while now) I am a very cautious sort of guy, and I will suggest that you try out this public forum thread for a few months first.

You can learn a ton right here and there are many people here to assist you.

Once you've gotten a feel for things, then perhaps the PF would be good. It is just a good idea to *know* that this is for you first.

I saw that. I think the analysis is extremely thin. The report is merely a rattling off of numbers reported in. So any extrapoloation is a guess.

A loss of 25% in transaction volume still leaves a huge market. Prices don't move because there is some measure of agreement in them - for some reason.

Just my opinion. I don't trade that sort of thing anyway - gimme the charts and eyes to see the footprints.

Just to add one thing on PF:

I am always very cautious when talking about PF and am keen to stress that everything you need is here. That's not because I am ambiguous about PF. As you can tell from what I wrote I think it's superb and the best money I ever spent.

It's more because I don't want someone reading this thread who can't afford PF to think "man all the good stuff is in there, and I can't afford it" This thread isn't a tease for the paid site. Everything you need really is here. It's one of the reasons I admire Jim, he basically gives it away here for free.

If you want further evidence of that I'd direct you to the posts of Jduester, Ghous and Jarroo. All of whom learnt the J16 material from this thread alone and didn't join PF (Jarroo finally joined a few months ago). Those guys show the level of learning you can get from this thread.

hhehe Jarroo has been a member since the old PF. That guy has price bars running through his blood. Or he was then left then came back I see aug 08.

And yes the material in the PF is more structured, videos, webinars, more personal time. There is certainly more material from certain instructors, b/c it would be impossible to sit here and explain ever nuance for example my intraday trading. Or if you are a complete newb and need help just learning the basics, thta can't be taught in a fluid manner in a bulky thread.

But don't let anyone ever fool you into thinking there is some secret. Experience is what is taught, and all that really ever can be after a certain level. That is why in the PF some find themselves interested in my BOs or Intraday, others gravitate towards the Base system with Swami, or the Knife with Baddison or touch trading with Raczefx, then SL has his work with trendlines, bemac with Icce(I don't want to forget anyone and be a bad friend ).

Those who are interested just finding this thread. Start reading from post one like the others have said. Spend time finding if this is right for you. Don't ever jump into anything you might not be ready for or ready to absorb yet. There is more then enough in this thread to become profitable, and this thread gives more then most courses cost 500 times over.
