Good bars at good locations doing what they love to.

I think its also important to note, that this was a ppz on a weekly timeframe, and it tried for a few days to get through

Could throw some fibs in there too

Your analysis looks great! There were a few bar highs/support at 1.76, but it seems to be breaking through them. I'm also looking at 1.75, as it a big round number and a weekly ppz going pretty far back in time. I usually like to set an alert and see the price react to the round numbers, so I can get a feel for where price wants to go.

In this case I will be looking for 1.73 as a final TP...if it gets there, great. If not, I have profit locked on my remaining lots risk free.
Ignored
Yes, if the EURAUD could test 1.75, that would break the mini up-trendline.

Is it still in the mini up-trend within the major down trend...aiming for 1.82, or will it break the mini up-trendline? Only the PinBar will reveal the mystery!

It's nice to be able to analyse the situation when you are sitting on a no risk trade isn't? lol...

Better than a kick in the butt with a frozen boot! It may be the beginning of the continuation of the larger down trend...you never know...

0.8479 looks good for Target 1 or perhaps the 365 ema at 0.8380

Protip: it wont take anywhere near as long as you think. The signal:noise gets pretty low from time to time, there are stretches of 10+ pages with nothing useful

Good on you for putting in the effort, though. It is well worth it. Most people wouldnt put in so much work.

Most people fail.

I know correlation != causation and all, but...

..

Edit: also, dont just read. take notes.

I use evernote, it is perfect. MS OneNote would work as well. Both have firefox extentions to make clipping a breeze.

Both will let you clip useful snippets, paste in charts (which is 75% of the gold you are mining for), tag things to remember/research, index your collection so you can find things.
When you have to shoot, shoot. Dont talk.

Took this trade myself as posted yesterday closed all at 176 if price really goes to 173 I will go long this had lots of macd a few weeks ago,I had 2 sell orders 1.7814 & 1.7950 both just %1. Wished the latter got triggered, played this by the book s/l top of pin.Scott you will find backtesting

1. Retrace near a major ppz with confluence fib, weekly ppz 4hr s/r are the way to go seems we all know this but I myself sometimes force the issue if I just could wait for the obvious my account would be LARGER!

2. Patience easy to say harder to do, Let the game come to you.

3. By doing this your s/l sure helps your pip size, then when price runs down or up your already in profit on a daily bar and can shut it down in profit when others are handcuffed when it bounces off the low or high.

Just some thoughts you probalbly already know this but it helps to tell myself this anyway Btw nice trade.

hey guys im looking at a chfjpy chart. i wish i could post it but it is in dealbok and i cant figure out how to save a picture of my screen like i can on mt4. the prob is my mt4 broker doesnt offer this pair.

anyway it is 4 daily ibs in a row followed by a nice pinbar which seems to be at or near a swing low, although not at a great location. the other thing is the pinbar is almost an ib too but it closed slightly higher by a few pips and the pb is indicating long as well. is this playable??? if somebody has this pair would you mind posting a daily chart.

because i have 0 confidence in this setup (coz ive never seen it before) im going to sit on the sidelines and watch but i wouldnt mind some input.

also if anyone is using dealbook can you please tell me how to take a picture of my screen and please dont say f12 coz i cant get that to work either.
thanks, john

The 1.73 area looks like a great place to go long. There is a big ppz in that area along with 1.75. I'd like to see nice PA off this area on weekly/daily to go long from.

I'm assuming you were talking about this bullish divergence on MACD? (see chart)

Hey John:

Personally, I will become interested in a long on CHFJPY if it closes above 86.79. that would create a nice weekly (or 6 - 7 day) PinBar bouncing off of the 85.18 monthly support level (which just happens to be a 38.2% retrace off of high) and a possible confluence bounce off of lower ascending channel up trendline....

If I was correct, that would leave a +pippage window of opportunity to gain approx 180 pips to 88.59 weekly resistance or possibly even +500 pips to the 91.86 monthly resistance level...

Just my opinion though...

Attached is the chart....

welcome tac.

i think the best approach is to balance staying current with the thread and reading from the beginning.

in other words dont get to wrapped up in reading the whole thing as fast as you can.

stay current and give yourself plenty of time to read it.

learn a coiple of basic bars, learn how we look at support/resistance and have fun with it while your learning.

very simple stuff and pretty darn easy to get good at if you approach it in the corect manner.

resist the temptation to go as fast as you can.

follow the outline and basic info in post 1 and feel free to ask any question either here or thru my personal email.

A daunting task (on page 14 at the moment) however I feel I could potentially miss some golden nuggets if I skim or skip. I see some have read the thread multiple times which is an achievement in itself. I have trader for around a year but never really got anywhere, although using PASR I was all over the place, this thread is a godsend.

So I guess most of the regulars have read the entire thread?

Thanks

Greetings Martin,
i havent checked my charts...
but looking at your aud$ daily chart, it seems the area where your buy stop
is, could be the next resistance/PPZ/traffic area (+/- 0.79 - 0.7930 area).

Not sure i'm late with this reply, though. (your buy stop might have already been triggered).
Do post more for us to learn from &/or make analysis off.

Hello everyone....
It is my first question here, ...
Is this right Pin Bar or not?...
pipgame

Hi pipgame,
from the chart in this post, i can see u are learning/using THV.
(I have been reading that thread too)

THV is mainly for scalping but it can be used with H4 & up charts.
I suggest u dont mix a scalping method (THV) with a non-scalping method (james16). if u are new at both methods, u would get confused.

depending on your circumstance, i suggest u concentrate more of your time in learning james16 method (support/resistance, PPZ, confluence, etc). once u are really good at using the j16 method (in H1, H4 & up), then u can try slowly dropping down on the timeframes (M5 - M30/H1) & use THV (& others).

in my opinion & personal experience, james16 method enhances THV & other methods, for that matter. this is because james16 method is basic stuff. U can say that james16 method is the root/trunk of a tree. from that root/trunk, it branches out to many varied/different fruits (different methods such as THV, etc)

Again, i say, post more to learn more.

Nice one.
For those who use Bollinger bands, this spring is called a "squeeze" (range tightening before a breakout; "low volatility begets high volatility")

Hi Aaron,
I am looking at the use of divergence at the moment and I thought exactly the same as you when I saw Stoli's post. I have since found there to be two kinds of divergence, regular and hidden. I just wondered how you got on with this as I have not got my head around it yet and I don't want to over complicate something that is maybe something simple....
Ignored
kean,
u are correct IT IS simple.
the simplest way to look at it is:
regular divergence = trend reversal (usually happens near/at end of trends)
hidden divergence = trend continuation (usually happens within trends)
