Cobra and xux99,

Have been running some demo's using an alternative approach to pairs selection and settings application. The results have been encouraging. Once I have some more forward testing data, I'll forward the results.

One key item that would help to limit losses would be a additional setting in trading hours to lockout Sunday night trading until a time on Monday morning (say 7am)

Also the broker time/platform time issue. I think it would be best to make these offsets from GMT an automatic process. I have seen use of the Clock_v1_2 indicator to detect times and then offsets are calculated in EA code. This will simplify and eliminate any errors if time based matters.

Let me know your thoughts on this - I'm sure the above will help to minimize losses and improve overall profitability.

Here are the results of the 6 month back test on M15 EURUSD - both showing good gains. The set file by Kaizasoze beat mine but it did have more drawdown.

the sets files are attached as txt files. The Detailed reports attached as zips. I tried many combination using Jan 2009 then reran those that looked promising for 6 months. Many sets ended about even after a month.

Here's one sets file that didnt do too well :

I just dont understand why the SL didnt kick in earlier. As far as I can see the only clue is that this trade ran for several days (19th - 22nd). Perhaps xux can comment when back from leave?

Did you happen to attempt to run the backtest on usdcad also? That's what pair his set file was for, but when I run it I don't get very good results. Was just curious if you attempted it on that pair and if that's why you applied it to eurusd.

Another note:
Where is it actually designating a stoploss? I see in the set file it has atr multiplier as 0 for SL, does this cause it to run with no SL at all?
When running it live, it doesn't state what stop is being used either.

these were the reason for big losing trades. Try running it again and let me know how u go. I am currently upgrading M15 to trade along with 4h rather than 1h. Less no of trades but very reliable ones. Will post the results on friday eve.

Hi all

I have loaded both version of this EA onto my charts ok but in the navigator menu in MT4 both versions of the EA are showing in GREY and not in GREEN. Is this normal? According to MT4 when they are in grey its not been compiled correctly. Am I missing an indicator or something? I have checked and cant see anything obvious. I have experience in EA`s and know how to install them correctly.

Yes your correct.

How can you test the EA without the relevant source code? When I run the strategy tester it obviously produces no results because the EA is missing the source code??

Source code not needed to run backtests. No offense but pls study the MT4 manual more.
The source code should stay locked IMHO because if unlocked we would have endless mods to it and total havoc here with so many updates. Thumbs up to Cobra for keeping it locked and demo only.
If it backtests good run it live!

Thank you so much for running these. They are holding their weight in gold. I was pleasantly surprised that you were able to show profitability with it to tell you the truth. I could not come up with a profitable M5 backtest to save my life. I guess M5 is out of the question unless we can find a good .set for it.
Moving on, could some of you give ideas as to what settings should be changed to cut down on the draws?
We can all run further backtests from that point on to see if we can achieve better results.

Well said Cobra. Please stick to your original plan not to release the source and keep it only demo for a while longer.
