Politics is the best profession ever.
You use the slogan "Yes we can", get elected than you change it to "Yes we could, if we haven't misread the economy".
It even beats prostitution as a profession. Once the lady says "Yes I can", ohhh, she's gotta do it.
"Contrary to comments made this past weekend by Vice President Joe Biden, President Barack Obama says that the administration did not misread the economic downturn."
Now the questions:
Did Biden misread the economy alone?
Did Obama misread Biden or
Did both misread the misreading?!?!

Here comes the corporate earnings season, and there's no doubt it will be more important than most.
Alcoa's after-the-bell report Wednesday signals the start of the second quarter reporting period, which traders say could be a turning point for a very tentative stock market. The earnings are being watched much more closely for what they say about the economy.

Four Rio Tinto staff detained in China

Four employees of Rio Tinto, the Anglo-Australian mining group, have been detained in China without explanation, raising tensions as the company is locked in tough negotiations over iron ore prices.
It is highly unusual for staff of a large foreign company to be detained in China. The four workers, reported to be members of Rio’s iron ore sales team, were held for questioning on Sunday. The company said in a statement that it was “concerned about the employees’ wellbeing and is doing everything possible to help them and support their families”.
