We can increase the new filter time for NFP. Probably 20 minutes before and 30 minutes after?

I do not want to trade in 1min above or below coral but set pricecrossichimoku=true & min=2 max=0. And set 0 SRDistance and Min level distance...still no trades.

Probably because, your MTF setting is not matching the format

MTFTrixDot4=0 -> 000
MTFIchimokuDot1=0 -> 000
MTFIchimokuDot2=0 -> 000

The new default is 4 and I think it was keeping me out of several trades.

Yes, I had been doing 95% of the testing over the last 5 days on the 30mn, tweaking, changing, etc. Did some testing as well on 5mn. All working for 3 different currencies.
If not familiar with this, please go to the help of MT4 and/or search a thread in FF about strategy tester.

As a confirmation, I assume that using the strategy tester in MT4 to test this EA is something that you see as valid, correct ?

On strategy tester, EA will make trades. But, the MTF indicators do not work well. As I posted earlier, EA does not use MTF version of the trix or ichimoku, we add MTF version to the chart to see , what conditions EA takes trade.

Hi All

Is it just me or is the Strategy Tester in Metatrader very flaky to say the least, my own experience of it over the last couple is that it is very unreliable, the worse back tester that I have seen anyway.

The probem that I am currently having is that when I start the Strategy Tester the support and resistance lines are continually flickering as well as the 'trix called' indicator. A look at the journal confirms that 'trix called' indicator is continually being reloaded and after about 2 mins it will come up 'cannot open file C:.........THV3 Trix Called'.

It only seems to happen when I back test from the 1st May, if I start at the 20th May it is fine

Does anybody know what I am doing wrong ?

Ok. As you said above it will open trades on strategy tester when MTF Trix histos are in agreement, but will not show on indicator higher TF Trix movement ?Do i understand it right ?

Hope it will help...Try to update Price data feed from your broker.

Yes, it will open trade, but you will not be able to see the exact conditions in the indicator, during backtesting

Wlfx, thanks for your reply. I have tried deleting Metatrader off my computer and reinstalling it, makes no difference. How do I update price data feed? I am with ODL.

Finally, both of my settings for ey 5m & ey 15m had a profitable day. Though I have no clue about the exit strategy or money management being used by my set. I see my lot size double on occasions. I see my sl and tp disregarded. If somebody can make some sense out if it, I will be one happy and informed trader.

I was using a set file and not sure why this was a sell trade and not a buy? The setup to me looks as if it should of been a buy ?

The trade wasn't that bad as it was a kick back from DP, many traders would have taken that, but it went out badly.

A SL just above DP would have been correct.

Don't try to adjust after every trade which was resulting bad.

I see more problems in the SL, it might be too wide.

Losing is part of the biz but you need to win more than you lose.
