does anyone here trade with Alpari US? If you do could you please tell us the pros and cons?

They seem honest but BIG downside is the fairly often requotes and SLOOOOW order entry (5-10 seconds). I prob get in on first request 60% of time - other 40% maybe on 2nd, 3rd try.

They hate scalpers and their platform is designed to defeat them. Until I find a better broker I'm stickin with them but I would love to find someone I could trust with faster execution.

I stay in trades for hours/days so it doesnt hurt tooo much but there are time I want to tear my hair out because they blew a sweet entry price for me because I trade with very tight stops.

As far as I'm concerned no complaints, I do get requotes but this only happens when the price is bouncing around. On average it takes about 3-4 secs for my orders to process if I dont get a reqoute.

Hi all,
I have a question. I have been trading with Alpari for about three months, and I have read good and bad things about them. Just recently, I experienced an issue and I need help from the board to resolve it. Could someone that trades with Alpari send me their chart for EURUSD 1 min chart for 22 May between 16:00 and 18:00? There seems to be a discrepancy and I am trying to resolve it.

Alpari UK & US are some of the more honest brokers in the industry.
Alpari US has a few quarks that may turn away good business ... but that is all based on what a particular trader is looking for in a broker. The personal issues I've had with them are:

  1. They use Metatrader4 platform and no web trading version.
  2. Re-Quotes (The ablsolute, biggest problem they have)
  3. No Credit Card withdrawals/deposits. Everything is done through check(s) or wire transfer (I perfer credit/debit card transfers)
  4. 5th decimal trading (just started this not too long ago. Tragic, really)

it may not sound like a lot but I have been trading for about 4 months. I had a trade that went to profit and set my SL 5 pips about my buy. The price then spiked down right to my SL and went right back up. When I checked the chart from another broker (demo acct) and from Amibroker the patterns were very different. Neither of the other accounts came close to my SL. Before making any accusations, I would like to compare someone elses chart to the three I have and submit them to Alpari.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

You can ask Alpari to adjust your account for that false spike, and there's a good chance they will do it. If they don't though, then you'll know you were the victim of a classic stop hunt.

This is a common practice, and is one of the common complaints when trading with a bucketshop. It's something the banks do as well, but in those cases you'll see prices moving everywhere and not just on one broker's platform.

As for checking someone else's charts, why do you need to do that? It sounds like you already have the information you need. If you don't see that spike on any other charts you look at, demo or otherwise, then you know it was specific to Alpari. I'd suggest sending them screenshots of the charts you do have, and see how they respond. As mentioned, there is a good chance they will correct it for you, but you'll have to ask.

thanks for the info. I was looking for someone else's charts to see if the difference was specific to my account or a general phenomena to Alpari. I am aware of the stop hunts that occur, but I may be naive, I would think that would not sit well with the regulators. How can you look at charts and learn technical analysis if someone is always looking over my shoulder ready to spoil my gotten gains?

I will send to Alpari tonight but would still like to know if anyone can send me that chart.

This is from my live Alpari account (with no money in it though). I think this is what you want.

Re. this not sitting well with the regulators, as long as they have that NFA disclosure that you agree to when you open your account, they're in the clear. It says right in there that they can provide different prices to different customers. But just looking at it from a common sense point of view, if they stop hunt/have "bad data" all the time and never correct it when requested, they'd lose all their business. So, as I mentioned, it is likely they will help you if you provide charts showing that their feed was "inaccurate."

please avoid these bucket shops. Alpari may be FSA regulated, but according to companies house in the UK is a "wholly owned subsidiary of Alpari CYPRUS Limited, a company incorporated in Cyprus. The ultimate controlling partner ia Alpari Cyprus Limited'

just download the annual report for £1 and you will see their accounts.

Cyprus is well known for its dodgy financial dealings, like many other offshore tax havens.....

I've tried most of the MT4 bucketshops, and have found FXDD to be the best in my experience. I have more than one broker, but FXDD is my choice for top bucketshop, lol. Spreads are ok, but no commission, and you can go through one of the broker rebate places to get rebates on your trades as well.

You'll probably hear somebody posting about how they are not regulated by the NFA, and they are not, but they are huge, and a lot of people trade with them and are happy. I can just share my experience, which is I've had an account there for 8 months now and haven't had any major problems. And compared to the other MT4 buckets out there, they are quite a bit better.

nope. They trade against you and have the platform rigged with loads of anti-scalper crap. - if you're a honest trader not having a clean playing field hurts you too.

I see. And by anti-scalper crap, would you be referring to requotes? Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my understanding, requotes are when price moves too quickly so the trade comes back with an error saying that it couldn't be filled at that price. Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't you set your deviation levels higher and enter at whatever price they give you?

Could you also please justify how you know that this is intentional and not just natural? (I'd actually like to really know this - not that I'm questioning you, I'd just like to know how to answer others about this ^^)

If I am trading on the 15min time frame, would this hurt me? 5 min?

Also, I've been told FXDD is also a bucketshop but it's actually pretty good - I'm guessing this means that they just have fewer "anti-scalping crap"?

I have an account with fxdd for nearly four years now and never had any problem with them.
