Good suggestion. Since I went to full script blocking CPU and memory usage went way down. The site now runs as fast as always. I usually don't need to block scripts. Thanks

Options I did - since I have removable HDD for all my PC's
1. Running all the trading applications in Millenium. My problem has dissappeared and Avast running in Millenium removed all the 8 virus.
2. Uninstall iE from control panel-and delete the Internet explorer in Program Files. Then Install IE again and reinstall Avast.
3. Get the free superantispyware ( google to find it ) and you probably find another trojan which some antivitus soft cannot detect.

WARNING !! Back up your important files first. In the worst case, you might need to fdisk and reinstall windows again.

Strange,

Yesterday it asked me for install, and I think I said 'yes' . But no viruses are found and IE browser work normally. Anybody knows the name of this active-x?

what antivirus anti-spyware are you using? It's said that AVG doesnt pick up this thing.

I use free avg and it detect some virus(i think) when i connected to ff. Couldn't heal them, but i put them in the quarantine zone

I use firefox and though my system used up all the memory I never found a virus? Can it be that firefox is blocking it?

Yeah, I had the activex thing too ... didn't really think about it at all. Been coding so long that I just ignore anything that I don't want to install and thus ignore the yellow bars in IE. Anyone hear where this might have come from (IP addresses or anything)?

Firefox just locks up, and IE installs a virus..

I'm logging in from a unix box, so nothing bad is happening..

But don't you just love Microsoft Security?

Both my laptop and desktop were affected. Fortunately my laptop had a drive image which I restored back to.

The desktop, the one that I trade with, didn't have a drive image. After running AVG, Spybot, I think my desktop is clean now, but I have my doubts. I find scanner software usually finds problems when one exists--but sometimes does not report problems that do exist.

Anyone recommend some free software to check for malware/viruses/trojans/etc? I am currently running:
(1) AVG Free, completely up to date
(2) Spybot, running resident settings, completely up to date
(3) All Windows XP updates are applied.

Still have my doubts if my desktop is clean or not....
