Legitimacy of volume data?

I know this topic has been discussed over and over...
But are volume data reliable coming from the brokers?

There isn't any central exchange for spot market.. the volume data won't cover any general picture closest to the actual volume traded...

So, is it helpful looking at volume data provided by the retail brokers?

not to mention, VSA still needs the volume data to employ...
