Do you think the recession is over ?

What do Currency traders think about the current economic situation in the world, have we passed the worst, are we ignoring hard facts, are we being to rosy, are the stimuluses working etc.

Hoover & Roosivelt managed to prolong the Great Depression for nearly 15 years with more and more bailouts, regulations, taxes, and interference in the economy.

Bush & Obama (they don't seem much different to me really) seem to be giving their best shot at a repeat performance.

Yes we can! (grow the government and suck the life out of the private sector, that is)

I think we are near/at the eye of the hurricane.

As i believe u have a lot to say on this issue.

You should treat this recession like a Depression.

Why? Because if they admit it's bad, it's really terrible;
and if they admit it's terrible, it's actually WORSE.

I thoroughly believe that the governments of this world would
rather hide a problem (through bogus statistics) than actually
do something about it. That means, in my opinion, that governments
have long disguised the actual state of joblessness in their
nations -- especially those (like Canada and America) that
pride themselves on being models for other countries to follow.

I found an article to back up what I've long suspected,
from June 2008: that US economic data has been the victim of
sleight-of-hand by successful governments that want to falsify
the extent of prosperity under their regimes ...and other governments
have no doubt followed this strategy too.

So think of the news headlines on CNN and elsewhere. If they're
admitting to huge job losses and high unemployment, it's actually
much worse, because the statistics they use to get those news
stories do not reflect the real state of the economy.

If this recession is really as bad as they pretend, we certainly can't be out of the woods yet. Either they are lying thru their teeth, or just plain stupid/incompetent!

My opinion is that the recession might end in a real breakdown and not just in a drawdown of the stockmarkets...
Just have a look on the news the Süddeutsche from Germany uncovered a few days ago. In this report secret German financial authority papers came in the wrong hands and were published somehow...It's said that there is debt of german banks of up to 816 Billion €. Especially Hypo real estate is involved in this sum with about 30 %. And the problem is that theyre also involved in Germanys government bonds...that would mean in the worst case that germany goes bankrupt with the bank...
STATE BANKRUPCY isn't as far as you might think!

So actually you have to know the that all the central banks are private...how else shall governmants get debt...these central banks make a nice living of an interest rate of just 0.5%..they don't really care about the states...they care about the money they get

because we have the united states congress leading the country

we are so screwed unless the govies give up control of the market. if we are going to live ina free market world, we can't just live with the good aspects of it. we have to let the bad things happen too. the market needs to purge itself every once in a while. imagine if you ingested some poison and needed to throw up. in a normal body, you would throw up and get out the poison. if you taped your mouth shut and didnt vomit, you would get sick. and that's what's happening right now. instead of letting the market vomit the poison that is the mortgage industry or the car industry, the government is taping the markets mouth and keeping the poison in. it's gonna make the US sick. and THAT is why i don't think the recession is ending anytime soon.
