thanks for the very technical and detailed reply, but at the end of the day i have found that Alpari's service has deteriorated over the past months to such a level that i have moved onto other brokers.

Constant requotes are a major issue. I am sure that as a company, you would prefer to let traders trade at their price rather than endlessly requoting them for the sake of a fraction of a pip and lose them altogether. As you mention, you hedge the net exposure, so constantly requoting individual clients should not have any effect on this (or a...

you don't understand what he is saying: market is changing quotes rapidly thats why you get requotes. they tried explain that to you.

I read that other brokers are usual to widening spreads as well, especially during the news, I never seen it on Alpari, on major, not even during the hot news.
(is true that during the news you spouts a lot of requotes, and is very difficult to enter in a trade).

doesn't seem possible. I know that each McDonalds franchise is a separate biz but core items and the food make them the same (or whats the point of being a subsidary?) - UK and US share website design, broker start/end times and both sucked at the same time. SOMETHING is similar and definitely more than being told.

exactly my point. does not make economic sense to have EVERYTHING separate for each outfit, so i find this hard to believe entirely.

Newtrade:"you don't understand what he is saying: market is changing quotes rapidly thats why you get requotes. they tried explain that to you"

the point i was making is that you will always be requoted if the price changes by 0.1 of a pip, which is ridiculous as this will be the case more often than not. I wish they would add some flexibility, so that they will accept your price even if the price moves a little (say for example 0.3pips) This will avoid the endless requoting without clients having to change their own settings and lead to a 'happier' trading experience overall.

in response to fulltime comment, what alpari is saying is the servers and data feed are seperate from each other, but that doesnt mean their data providers are different. They are seperate working 'bodies' under whats called a 'copy'. This kind of thing is everywhere, its nothing new.
I think some people here have been hurt and like to blame the broker... just my opinion.

You need to adjust your deviation in MT4 under Tools/Options. If it's set too low you will be requoted more.

Great to see Alpari UK coming onto this thread to tell us what's happening at their end and also to answer questions and address concerns from us traders. They are definitely one of the better metatrader brokers out there. And it shows that brokers do read the threads on Forex factory

Lubo.: it is EURCHF
fry2010: I have to admire your support towards Alpari.co.uk, regarding the time period of widen spread, the spread was widen between 8 am to noon (GMT+8) , Europe is still sleeping so there is no where near the news. This happened couple of times recently, the reply I got from them is "low liquidity during asian trade time", it sounds more like they want to screw traders for a few more extra pips. When Europe market is about to open, the spread magically back to 3 pips ...
Hope this gives you a full picture.

newtrade,
I don't know about low or high liquidity.
I think the purpose of this forum is to let traders exchange information about their experience of their brokers (good, bad or ugly) to other traders/brokers.
All I want is to point out the fact that Alpari has a practice of raising spread for that pair during asian trading time. I have been using Alpari for almost 8 months, for the last 6 months, I didn't spot this practice.
Some potential traders may need to aware of this issue when deciding which broker is best for their strategy.
Regards

It's known that same pairs are spread widening during Asian session.
Alpari says that it occurs due to liquidity.
This does not happen on the major.

Lubo.

P.s. If u go with an ECN you can see that it occurs on all pairs as well!

it doesn't help much!...the requotes are endless...
i'm using at this time a demo account...i wanted to trade live with alpari(uk), BUT:

in december 08 all was working fine...no big problems with their platform...afterwards their MT4 began to freeze...this was terrible...nothing was going anymore...so i took a closer look at the incommimg trafic to teir terminal.exe - it was very high!...too high for THEIR metatrader!...(there are other MT4, witch can handle higher traffic or brocker, which slow it down)...there is also another possibility to freeze the terminal.exe : when the cpu-usage goes up( there is no need of a high traffic at all), more then 20-30% , near 50% or above, then no one has a chance to make even one klick...you can watch this at your windows task-manager...

now i limited the incomming traffic down and - i got problems with their endless requotes...but if one think the differece between the price and what one get offered is only 5/6 pips or so, one can get a bad wake up...
i got this afternoon more times a difference of more then 60 pips between the actual price and the requoted one!!!...i made a pic of such a requote...

i wanted to buy GBPJPY manualy...price was at 145.52o/145.59o...but i got a requote of 146.196/146.266 and an offer to buy at 146.2660...
you can calculate the difference yourself!...it happened so fast...if you click fast the ok-button, then you have a bigger problem...

so i can't trade live with them at this time...maybe alpari(uk) was a good and/or a fair brocker ( there is no one honest brocker ), but now their demo accounts make me fear...at this time i can't imagine to go live with them...

ps: please don't tell me the freezing metatrader is only my problem...it's the metatrader of alpari and the server too...the software and the server can't be a matter of the custumer but alpari's one...
