Every day for some minute Alpary servers freeze.
After I emeiled them 3 times and they told me I was in right and and that they would solve the problems, the situation still the same.

I decided i'll close the account!!

I get some nasty slippage the last weeks.

Alpari SUCKS now!! - WTF!!? - How do you go from one of the Best Brokers to one of the worst? Their platform sucks - It Slips, Freezes and Requotes now.

They must be cheating us to get the NFA 20 million.

I think I'm going to FXCM, unless I misunderstood, it gives the possibility to have a euro account and deposit in England.

I had a brief conversation with a guy on Alpari's London dealing desk last night after I'd suffered horrendous slippage on a trade.

I said that I hated the 5-decimal platform they'd introduced and found it very confusing. I asked what his opinion about it was and he basically said he couldn't comment, but they found it confusing as well.

Then I said that platform freezing. requotes and slippage had gotten worse and he replied that it was true.

After 2+ years with Alpari I have decided to close my account - they used to be good, but are no longer.

As an aside and re-affirming my decision to close my account, apparently existing account holders now have to choose between "micro" and "classic " accounts.
The only difference seems to be micro account holders can choose between 0.01-2 lots per trade and classic holders between 0.1-unlimited lots oer trade.
I would want 0.01-unlimited as it used to be.

A year ago I would have unhesitatingly recommended Alpari UK but not now.
They have lost their way.

Before the new year Alpari was a good service and now.....damn! What are they doing!??!?!?!

Hi there, I am glad you took time out to post this. I also use Alpari UK but since the beginning of the year there service has been appalling to say the least. Unending slippage, requotes,server failure the list goes on and on. I have also made up my mind to close my account with them, its so sad that getting a reliable broker these days is like looking for a needle in a stack of hay.

I don't know where i have to go.... I thought on FXCM but on that thread it seems is not good....

Any idea?????

I'm afraid I have to agree, up until a couple of months ago Alapri all the way but I've just experienced some woeful support, terrible slippage and an order fulfilment that is leaving me feeling quite sore right now.

I'm a serious full time trader and need to know where I am at with a trading broker, no inconsistency. When you are trading bigger amounts slippage and inconsistency becomes a big problem.

In the past I have had a order open that got kicked during news, the SL wasn't filled so i got hit at a worse price. Ok, thats the way it is I assumed. I took it on the chin and assumed I understood how it worked with them.

BUT if thats the case then you'd assume the same thing would apply to a profit trade with a TP, but no.

I didn't get the better price even though my system was showing the order was still open. I am convinced it wasn't filled (several open trades), the order did not close on my platform for 20 seconds, the feed was good, system running fine and its alpari feed so that order was not closed at TP. I should have got a better closing amount that reflected what the sustem was displaying..

But the eventual close price was reverted back to my TP level in my account window. That has never happened with a losing trade (get closed at SL level I set even if price is worse)

And unfortunately its not once but several times now.

I don't like inconsistency, especially when playing with my money.

I contacted support and they have just replied, sidestepped the question completely. I have to assume they are banking the extra money but if it is a losing trade they pass it onto client.

I have decided it is time to get a new broker. I want consistency, Forex is a hard game. An inconsistent broker doesn't help.

The Q now is who, I use metatrader, am based in UK.

Any reccs anyone ??

As I am also in the process of closing my Alpari account and based in the UK, I thought I would go the spread betting route (eg IG Index) as this gives big tax (and therefore book-keeping) advantages to us UK residents.

I still intend to use Metatrader for my charting, but there are lots of free downloads for demo purposes.

I hear the Alpari demo is very good!!!

I've been using Alpari demo for charting and CMC for the spread bets. Had no problems with CMC so far(2 years), occasional requotes on market orders when the market is moving fast, like during news, sometimes in my favour, sometimes not. Fair enough. Never had an issue with stop or limit orders. If I'm watching then it seems slow to execute but the order price is always filled.

BUT...I'm still trading fairly small amounts, rarely more than £3/pip. Whether things get worse with bigger orders I'll wait to see when i get there.

Personally I wouldn't trust to go with any other SB company, maybe IG index.

ps the charts for CMC are awful.

I have fear to go from bad to worst changing broker.

Hovewer i still remain profitable and for now I can not find something better, hawever I don't like to make gifts to them.

(if I give money I would choose myself, and perhaps do charity to those who really need!)

I was thinking about going with IB broker, but I read that their forex does not go so well.
Maybe I could start to trade currencies futures with them .....since now the CME should launch Micro futures...

If you mean Interactive Brokers then go ahead, they are a very good broker although their platform is quite complex and currency trading is more complicated than it should be (every pair operation actually uses your balance so that your account will have balance and negative balance of countercurrencies - I'm not sure how clear I am). Fills are absolutely great and if you are trading decent size the commission is small, they have real level 2 order book for forex and so on.

I used to trade them for a long time and have nothing to complain, thye are ECN so spread is variable (might be a problem in times of low liquidity) and their trading platform is far from great and automation is almost impossible but besides from that I like them (I still have an account with them). Their minimum order size is 0.2 std lots by the way if this is a problem.

I decided to move my trading to Activtrades (UK based, FSA regulated, scalping not allowed on basic account, fully segregated accounts) because I wanted to automate my trading, have been with them for a week now and everything has gone quite well - but week tells you nothing (I'm a longer term trader so I only open/modify trades once a day). If I could have automated my trading with IB, I wouldhave done so.

My expericence with alpari (I was trying to open an account) was horrible and as I read these messages, I'm glad that I didn't fund my account after I finally got it open.

Alpari (UK) announces the introduction of two new account types - Micro and Classic.

From the 21st of March 2009,in order to connect to your new server (i.e. Micro or Classic) and access your trading account as usual, you will have to update your login settings in MetaTrader 4.

Im having connection problems from yesterday. Entering new servers ip's doesnt help as well. Dont want to reinstall whole platform. Anyone expierencing something like i am now?
