I am in the same situation as Blackwolf...up at 430am...work till 430pm...not alot of time to trade.

I don't want an EA, though(mainly because I don't trust my computer to run it, it's an old computer with a mind of its own).

I think I would like to try and trade VSA on the longer term charts(4hrs and up)

I have the "indicator" that allows you to set up MT4 charts for any timeframe(6hr, 8hr, 12 hr, etc.)...

Malcolmb14...If you were to trade exclusively this longer term way, how would you go about doing it?

Do you look at support/resistance also?
Do you look at previous days and/or weeks high volume price areas?

look to get signa of accumualtion or distribution at s/r levels .. also use fib extensions or weekly pivots . they works well .

I posted some 4 hour charts earlier today that would have givne 2x 500 pip trade on gj this month ..and here is set up for 1100 pips trade GBPCHF

I've respected alot of you and tried my best to create a learning environment for everyone.One thing I won't go for is arguing or downplaying another persons method of trading. If I choose to trade 15m and I'm successful then thats what I do, I've posted numerous charts showing that..We should be trying to build people up and encourage each other. I think that no matter what chart you look at you can apply VSA the fact is that were all still looking at price and analyzing the spread,point blank.I didn't ask you all to come to this room, you came b/c you saw a viable method which has proven history to work in trading any markets. By all means if you want to start your own room then please do, I don't think we need that kind of negativity and bickering about who's method is better then the other.

well --i was able to cover my trade---and go the other way(like you mentioned NYSE1982)--too much pressure from the sellers(think its a short term move though)--k am gonna hold off on trading for a while--and re-read the thread again--am not giving up on this thing--

am just gonna isolate your post NYSE--then see if i fully understand it

And just to note Malcolm likes to trade longterm using VSA on his setups, which is perfectly fine, I tend to focus on the macro charts, using VSA. I scalp for 5-10pips consecutively and he scalps for 100+pip range.Thier is no difference, the fact is I don't have the time to wait for larger setups so I capture them in smaller increments. Same methods different time frames, wish people would stop trying to compare the methods on which is better, b/c we trade the same method. I appreciate the help really and I'm glad that I have someone else who can help members get a better understanding of this method.Can we please just try to be orderly about this also for the last time, can we scale back on the indicators...it's getting quite overwhelming and besides we have a number of great indies which work just fine..thanks

okay---same "SM operations" but smaller timeframe--Got it--
its just that when i see a ZiG-Zag indicator one minute and a volume indicator with lines that i have no idea how to read--it gets confusing

Totally agree--post an indicator--tell the room exactly how to use it--

Ok here is where you made a mistep..from looking at this chart

CANDLE 6
VOL 2019
SPREAD 60

CANDLE 5
VOL 3662
SPREAD 82

CANDLE 4
VOL 5098
SPREAD 40

Your signal is candle alerts you b/c if this was a conituation of strong buying you would have had a higher spread.Simply because if more buyers you would have to a higher spread b/c more people are accumulating and that would have showed more strength and confirmed it with the spread. To me this says thier was higher volume b/c you had more sellers on this bar. Which is also confirmed bc your H/L was much lower which means buyers failed to push it to new high. Your H/C means that sellers were able to take control and force it lower. So, thats why on candle 3 if buyers will still incontrol your H/L should have been lower then candle 4. In this case it's extremely high and also if this was a true upside move your spread should again have been much larger, then candle 4. In this case it was only 4 points higher.I hope that clearifies things.

Know assuming you missed that you still could have read candle 2 and point out how high that spread is compared to the previous bars. A true selloff is gradual where the spread increases on a gradual basis like you have that from candle 6 to candle 5. It shouldn't just skyrocket to 62, especially on light volume. That says alot of buyers got in on candle 2 and just got suckered.

You have to study every aspect of the VSA

Here's some more charts to help people understand, okay

CANDLE 5
H/L 83
H/C13

tells me more buyers in this bar b/c your H/L is higher then previous bar and also H/C is higher. Which means some sellers involved, not much but some.

CANDLE 4

H/L 68
H/C47

this bar is now telling me that buyers are slowing down and more sellers have gotten into the pair. Now the spread is 21, now pay attention to candle 3

CANDLE 3
H/L144
H/C48
SPREAD 96

this bar has just told me alot of people got in at the top on this bar thinking that the trend would continue, also look at the spread 96 extremely high for one bar, the spread should gradually continue for a true uptrend, that was a fakout and a whole lot of people got caught in that..

CANDLE 2
H/L167
H/C141

Now pay attention this bar just tell you how many more people just got aboard 167 bought on this bar, however your H/C 144 which is an increase of over 100% more sellers.That right there should tell you that the trend has changed. However at this point you look at the volume b/c the volume tells you the strength of that move wasn't enough. So in other words its trending down but your going to get zigzag moves downward, or down and up down and up. If that was a true straight follow thru you would get extremely high volume and a higher spread. Which means naturally your getting a bounce next move to the upside.

CANDLE 1

H/L77
H/C3
SPREAD 74

Yes more buyers in this bar but it relation to the previous bars this upmove is weak and also look at the spread which is extremely high, true up move has gradual spread moving up and the volume is very light.

did not mean you will get wiped out ... sorry no offense meant

I trade smaller time also ... 3min chart ..... confirmed by 15 min chart down....I do not scalp though 5-10 pips .. one 50 pip move in a fast candle and you are 5 trades wiped out. I have experienced that a few times. I look for 25 - 50 pips a time and hopefully 100 if the set up is there. I do not often hold trades for more than 1 hour.
