Hi, can't find this version of the Trix. Anyone know where it is?

Where did you see that version? The latest is the 4.01Div, posted in the first page.

Traderathome uses a different Trix, may be you refere to that one.

One of the best futures of 4.01 is the divergence detection that TAH doesn't have in his Trix indicator but he's customed to use it and that's fine but here we should try to work with the latest THV version, if you like to.

Ok and thanks Cobra, yes, thats where I saw it in one of his posted charts. I thought I missed a page on this thread and could not find it in the indies above. Just want to keep current.

Good morning everyone.

I am running the simulator (vhandstrade) using the Trixhisto Bar indicator along with it. I really like this indicator. For some reason on the simulator it is not painting new values as time moves along. When the simulator first starts, there is some variation to the values prior to the start time, but after that the values (square box colors) do not change. I didn't notice this being addressed, sorry for the repeat if it has.

BTW, CC, I could never get the EJ to "take" a trade on vhandstrade. I changed the lot to .01 and I know that worked for you but I couldn't get it to work. It's OK because I can write down my trades by hand. I just thought you would want to know.

Add: OK I think I got my answer. On the THV EA thread Cobra said "the multi TF indicators don't work on a simulator", so I am assuming that applies to this indicator.

2nd Add: The Ichimoku cloud histo bar only shows me green boxes. I couldn't find a setting to fix it. I actually like the MTF Ichimoku better anyway because it paints the cloud on the chart.

Thank you for a very intresting posting. It is very helpful to know what other successful traders do. Let's put it all down to learning. I for one do not like to make constant judgement to my trading decisions, end up making a mess of it and loosing. Different strokes for different fokes and that is how it should be. One thing I as a rule do not like doing is being glued to a screen. To me personally that's unproductive. I use a software that sounds an alarm or contacts me when a predefined setup occurs, which I then eyeball to decide on futher action. Personally more fullfilling. It's a hybrid system and in my view the best of both. As an added bonus it has trained me to be a dissaplined trader.

It all will depend on your personal preferences and goals... and capitalization and amount of stops you can afford!

You can perfectly aim for longer term trends, thus having to look at weekly-monthly to gauge the trend then entering at a better level on daily or H4.

In my own case, I'm more of a minimalist... for me each M5 candle is a micro-trend in itself and M30 is for me the equivalent of a daily chart......
All of y'all really trying to learn this strategy for trading should spend as many hours as you can in the simulator room...

No second charts on MT4, nor "half minute", lol... but indeed you can build your timeframe of choice with the period converter, for example 2 and 3 minutes, as ak4x trades, or 2 hours, 8 hours, 12 hours, etc etc....

12 hours charts are particularly interesting.

Its been a while I posted actively, I do keep reading all the posts. Looks like you getting good at scalping...

Regarding other timeframes, the idea is to trade a middle TF which is not provided by MT4 like 2,3,6,7,8,9... I never tried 30 Sec, I dont think it is possible too, since the source itself is coming from 1M chart, anything you try on 30Sec interval might not give a valid PA.

Apparently yes, I have the various charts open but as there is no feed I'll have to wait later on to see if they are updating in real time thanks again! this way I can experiment with more TFs and not be tied to having one M1 chart for every one of them...

In order for the Ichimoku histo indicator to work you have to have the attached Ichimoku in your indicators. (I couldn't get the one that comes with MT4 to show me what was in its buffers, so I couldn't use it. ) When Cobra first asked me to do the Ichimoku indicator, I agreed with you that I liked to see the clouds better too because with the indicator you don't have the info about how fat or thin the cloud is, how far they are apart , etc. But after using it for a while I kind of like it because it leaves the chart cleaner. Also I've noticed that if you have a green light and a red light, then having the clouds on screen tells you where PA might bounce. But if you have all red lights (for example) it's pretty much 'look out below' even if something does get in the way temporarily.

I think this is just restating what, TW or BeachBum, or Scrutch, or someone mentioned earlier about using divergence not only as a tool for an entry but also as a tool not to enter....It is well worth repeating!

Entering on the 1 min when there is even the smallest divergence in the 5 min indicating a counter move can be painful !! And since the Divergence indicator is somewhat lagging, it sometimes requires a guestimation about whether or not there is a potential for divergence....

The Ichimoku cloud histo bar is a MTF indicator as well and will not work on the simulator because the simulator calls only the data of the specific TF you choose for the template.

Yep, also divergence can give you warnings that PA will fall or raise soon and you should be prepared to exit if you are in trade.

I have seen this happen: when I am in a position that has not moved in my direction much, I then see divergence for the opposite direction, then I exit the position. Otherwise a move in the opposite direction might not normally prompt me to exit.
The CCI Histogram is the indicator I use for divergence. It is accurate on higher TFs. It packs a lot of info in one indicator.

How I use the Indicator:

Open trade trigger line at zero, stay in until trigger line drops/rises to 100/-100. The example below you would have entered once you have bullish volume at FPV and exited at MR3.

If someone could do me a huge favor and code this indicator so the trigger line (lime) is coded on top of the histogram it would be truly appreciated, and a great improvement on the indicator.
