Well, interesting day at the office today. I traded default recommended settings only and all of the One Filter Trades options set to true. Early analysis indicates the open/close trade execution worked fine but I will have to dig deeper. Certainly, all of the filters were alive and well. I stayed home with ForexMeta platform. Wish every day was like this one!

That is a nice day indeed . I went over to alpari, but I think I need to re-boot some charts as not even the indicators worked on some of them. I will wait to post results until they are more consistent.

Based on the "Clock" indicator I posted earlier I'm sure there is an option for automatic GMT offset, isn't there? I mean if this little clock "widget" can see what the timezones are for myself (local), broker, GMT, NY, Tokyo then you could theoretically program the EA to check the offset first and then set itself up accordingly.

Also, on eur/jpy 30m, the 11:00gmt+1 was not taken.

as posted earlier I don't have any idea why different brokers give such different results???
I think to actually come to this conclusion is an important milestone. As Blackwolf mentioned we have to go for averages... and at the end for consistency. (i.e. if this EA can bring positive results/nice profits consistently for a month or so)
I tested the UK and US Alpari platforms, US closed at -$27, UK closed with a nice profit of +$156. However, there were error messages (trade couldn't be closed) on both platforms.
It's good to see that the UK version hit the SL only two times, compared to US which had 6. (ATR SL was used)
Filters used: MMF, MAF, HF. All 5 pairs on M30 and H1.

Attached is ea v3.3 with the nice contribution from sayembara added. Check to see if the GMT_Offset is correct if you leave the gmt_offset_automatic = true. Have fun!

Thanks hsa for the feedback. The main error message I get is being generated by the 'reliable' functions added a few versions back. They seem to work well, except when it has closed the trades, and therefore the number of trades left to close is zero, it generates the error message for trade #0. This is the first time I've used these functions so I'm not very familiar with them but I'll see what I can do.

I'm going to trade GBPUSD on M30 with the defaults. This way I can study in detail every bar, trend value, etc. I'm still focusing my time on getting the ea technically correct - so, one pair, one TF, one filter at a time.

A workcrew working on underground utilities took out the internet service for several hours so no results for today.

Yo Gary,

I'm still running on ForexMeta and they are GMT+2 but the 3.3 EA shows a GMT+0 setting on the Autoset. I turned it off (false) and set it to +2 the old way. Strange, huh? I know FXDD is also GMT +2 as well. Just giving you a heads up.

funny you say that, I had problems with Alpari US charts too . When I tried to use my templates (saved on Alp.UK) the US platform froze.
Then I manually attached the EA and all indies and it worked!
This issue occured only on Alp.US platform, I tried templates on FXDD, Activtrades and a couple of others w/o problems.

May be the hardcoded broker name must be case sensitive. I think "ForexMeta" haven't been included in the list. Just confirm how the broker name appears on the window to Gary and hopefully all will be set in next version. It will take time to get a complete list of common brokers

p/s: you can edit the codes under GMT_OffSet by adding your broker name for the time being. I hope it works.

I've been quietly testing the recent versions of SlingShot (well done Gary with all the modifications - we'd be lost without you) and have experienced some of the problems listed in earlier posts regarding alerts popping up and the inability to close a trade, typically with error code 129 e.g.

2009.03.03 15:02:21 Slingshot EURUSD,M30: OrderCloseReliable V0_2_3:retryable error (5/10): 129:invalid price

As I was wondering what could be causing this, I remembered seeing some of the code around the closure of the trades and 'slippage', which is set to 3 and is hard coded in the EA. I think that we may need to accommodate 5 digit brokers in which case this value should be 30. I've just modified my current version of Slightshot and hard-coded the '30' value in there to see if this solves the problem in the short-term.

I've had to close about 4 profitable trades today manually and I suspect that it may be down to the above reason (at least for those with 5 digit brokers). I'll provide updates ASAP.

Gary - I'm not sure if you want to include this anyway into the EA?

Something is very fishy about Alpari US...
I'm still running Alpari UK and US concurrently, and UK is at +$272, US is at +$4.
That is $268 profit difference!

As Blackwolf said in his classic one liner: "Better stick with Alpari UK then!"

Hi all, and congrats to the great job you're all making here.

I'm quietly following it, and haven't bumped in before because of the lack of time presently to join in and participate.

You might want to take into account the hard coded slipage, when a 5 digit broker is concerned - as said above, if this value is 3, it should be 30 for 5 digit brokers;

Also, one diference between Alpari US and UK that comes to mind is exactly that... US is 4 digit, while UK is 5 digit.

Hi tonirai, welcome aboard!

If this was the only difference, the UK one should be worse, since the coding is not right for 5 digits. Since it's doing much better, there is something else!
