Did we go to 2677 simply to close the weekend gap, or are we moving on up for a while. If the up-move is exhausted, then we're continuing the recent, strong downtrend (we're at 2628 now). If PA has found a new range, such as what is shown on the M30 chart, then it might be a good time for scalping the range.

I suggest watching the THV closely. On the M5 it can yield lots of PIPs over the next few hours if ranging (we are now at 2633 by the way).

There is nothing wrong with the file on page one; I just downloaded and opened it. After over 68,000 downloads, did it occur to you that the problem might not be the file but rather your internet connection, computer or other issue on your end? You have six posts, five of them are requests for help. Do the math!

I suggest you go back and read post #7244; I rest my case!

In the code it says its the ADX, the Sar and the AO.

I have made an indicator something like that for THV. It is a MTF histogram that shows the state of the slow and fast TRIX two timeframes up. (For example if you are on the 1 minute chart it shows the 15 and 5 minute trix.
It *DOES* repaint in the sense that each of 15 bars on the 1 min chart shows what the 15 min trix was doing during that minute. So for a given 15 min period you might see 5 blue bars 5 red bars and 5 blue bars. If you then add another instance of the indicator after the 15 minutes bar for that period has closed you might see all 15 blue bars for that period on the one min chart. So you can't use it for back testing. However the on the original instance of the indicator, the 5 blue,5 red and 5 blue bars do not repaint unless you initialize the indicator. I find it useful because it tells me what the higher timeframe trix is doing at any given moment.

Couple of trades in the earlier on during the Asian session and early London session:

Longed at 1.4080. Squared at 1.4130
Shorted at 1.4125. Squared at 1.4115

Another pattern that I come across all the time and like very much is the "Expanding Wave B". FXTrader asked about the flatness of the slow Trix around zero line and the wiggly gyrations of the fast Trix around. As mentioned, this is the time to stalk for pattern resolutions and/or trend line break out:

Shorted at 1.4130. Squared at 1.4075

And the last one is not a scalp trade:

Shorted at 1.4144. I refined the entries making use of the 1-min THV along with divergence play to capitalize the potential reversal of price actions to the down side at the downward sloping upper Median Line of the fork. Immediate downside target at -1.3999+; break of that, -1.3890+. Take care.

I was just looking at stuff like this earlier today. You entered too late, as the move-up was exhausting itself. You have to have a feel for the current market, and it's been on a very tight range lately. I have two personal rules, which might have helped you:

1. Be careful entering with price far from the Ichimoku cloud. The latest move may be exhausted. The best trading condition is when Trix crosses first, followed by a price move above or below the cloud.

2. Avoid trades where Trix is running "flat". This usually means that price is uncertain, and therefore too volatile and risky.

Best I can see on your chart, your slow Trix was running a bit flat also.

Hope this helps. Remember, with these tight ranges, trading is extremely risky. At least you had SL set.

I looked at it using my way of looking at the market.

1.There wasn't any consideration of pattern analysis here. The minimum requirement of simple a-b-c corrective wasn't even given a chance to resolve. a (being down wave), b (up wave) and c (being down wave) [for bullish setups]. In other words, the potential bullish pattern wasn't given the time to resolve before trade was committed. BTW, this pattern is a harmonic pattern AB = CD.

2. No trend line analysis.

All the same, your directional bias is correct; but need a bit more work on analyzing market structures.

Long Entry at -1.2607+. Stop at below -1.2598+. Once price actions moves above pivotal 1.2614; revise sell stop to Break Even.

I am no expert in Forex, but I study every day to try to improve my knowledge ...

I had a look at its entry and found an important point for you to stay outside the entrance, which is the formation of the triangle ... I think the correct would expect the triangle be broken down or up, to realize there is a trader

As I said, I am no expert, I'm just trying to help and improve more my knowledge.

These are just basic market structures of any kind of corrective pattern. a-b-c is a simple corrective in Elliot Wave Theory and a-b-c-d-e is a complex formation of its counterpart. Please take a look at thread #7267; there is an example of a-b-c-d-e corrective. You may want to start off by learning a very simple presentation of Elliot Wave Theory. Suffice to say, ANY type of corrective MUST have at least 'three legs' as a basic requirement for the resolution of a corrective. Hope this helps.

You were attempting to scalp-trade on a 1M chart; not for novices!!!

Look back on your posted chart; most of the trades you would have entered using the same criteria would have been losers. Don't trade below 5M until you are an experienced trader! Others have already advised you about educating yourself. THV is NOT a point-and-shoot method.

One more point David and I think it will be absolutely clear why that trade was risky...

As you can see in the charts I have indicated on the 1 min and the 5 min with a vertical the exact candle you mentioned that you entered on...

1.) The 1 min was obviously having issues breaking that area of resistance...you entered dirtectly into R1...

2.) I think most importantly, as the others have mentioned in the thread, the 5 min was clearly showing you bearish divergence...


If you look at the 1 min chart you will see all the red arrows where PA was rejected. Notice that the ichimoku cloud was beneath R1 resistance when they were rejected. The the last blue arrow is where it was finally broken. The Ichimoku cloud was above the resistance of R1 and trix was trending upwards nicely....

Hi cashmeer, thanks for the very interesting critique. The TRIX on M5 includes a divergence indicator, so your post got me wondering why there are no divergence arrows shown on David's chart ... then to wondering how much or little divergence the TRIX indicator actually shows?

Just realised the charts you posted are probably from your own system, but your take on the built in TRIX divergence indicator still relevant

I am not sure about David's chart in terms of why there is not divergence indicator...Maybe that would have helped him...

I do not always use the indicator...I was saying in earlier posts, I like to look for divergence myself...

In terms of how effective the indicator is....I think others might comment. As BeachBum was saying, it is probably very useful in higher timeframes so that you can enter on lower time frames....that gives you more time to condider your entry....like using it on the 15 min and looking for entries on 5 and 1. Or hourly and entries on the 15 min....

Hi guys

I am new to this and having had a go with numerous systems over the last few weeks have settled on THV. First proper go with this today being really disciplined and pure trend trading off the 5 min an 15 min charts with entry on the 1m.

Target for the day - 100 PIPS
Achieved - 110 PIPS
Profit - £153.79
12 Profit Trades
0 Losses
Trading time - 4hrs

The way I operate is to use a fixed stoploss of 12 PIPs per trade and once it gets 5 pips into profit I never let it go back into a loss.

Pretty pleased with that overall - I did my forex education with Babypips and this has proved really useful.

I am looking forward to contributing here and to learn more from all of you.
