Forex Whisper Numbers

Just a thought....

This website uses a whisper number to determine buying stocks before earnings dates.... FYI a "whisper number" is a rumor that a company will beat/miss the analysts predictions.

Subscribers are encouraged to dump their stocks prior to earnings....

Does anyone know of a whisper number for releases such as NFP, Unemployment, etc?

Forex is a futures contract, so I don't know if this method would work or not.....

inside trading in the stock world is illegal right?

Aicccia I said "insider" but really its a rumor. Delivering insider information is illegal..... I don't know if trading it is or not.

As for whisper numbers.... I don't know where they come from. I was wondering if anyone had any forex experience with them.

errr, Forex is the cash market. yes, there are currency futures, but that is not forex.

as for whisper numbers, Forex is not like stocks where there is inside info. these are government releases we are looking at. once in a while there are leaks, and some insider trading may go on at very high levels, but in general it is an even playing feild. most of the market rumors can be picked up with any decent news service.

I've always thought that London traders have a pretty good idea about some of the UK numbers...especially retail sales and housing numbers...i'm sure they have their own contacts and ask around...

As far as the NFP goes-I doubt anyone has a real good idea-even the ADP report is basically worthless and they poll almost 300,000 businesses. It's all about the revisions anyway.

If you want to make a pretty good guess about tomorrows PCE-since Bernanke and the other Feds are still worried about inflation-I wouldn't be surprised to see a slighly higher reading there...he also said they expected growth to pick up moderately and look at the GDP. I know that's for Q4 2006, but obviously they're not worried about growth as much as inflation.

Maybe my facts aren't right. My understanding is that my leveraged position is really a contract that forces me to buy X units with Y units on Z date. Is that not a future? What is a "cash market" that you speak of?

in futures there actually is a legal contract because you're promising to buy back or sell back a future, in the future. The contract is the market's way (and brokers) of making sure you do, what you say you'll do, even if your analysis was wrong and the price went against you.

When you place an order in forex you're just exchanging currencies, like at the airport.

the structure of the financial markets is quite complicated and takes a while to fully understand. but here are some guidelines that should help....

anything "tradable" is usually traded in three markets....
1. cash market
2. futures market
3. options market

the cash market is where you are exchanging an actual commodity. take bonds for instance. when you are trading bonds in the cash market, you are exachanging the actual bond for cash. so whats the cash market for pork bellies? it would be the actual exchanging of cash for a truckload of pork bellies.

the futures market is made up of contracts on future delivery of a commodity. so in bonds, you would be buying a contract for future delivery of the cash-market-bond at a certain price.

the options market is either an option to buy/sell in the cash or futures market.

take stocks for instance. there is a cash market, which is trading money for actual stock, like you do in the "stock market". there is a futures market, where you can buy futures contracts on stocks. and there is an options market, where you can buy options on stock.

so....for currencies, the cash market is the actual exchanging of money, like you would at an airport, and this cash-currencies market is called Forex.

Whisper Numbers sure sounds nice.. Unfortunately, I kinda have a hearing problem... Can you speak LOUDLY please?

Even more reason to think its rigged.
If these numbers are known prior to release, you can bet they are being traded.
They have to be known to Labor Dept. bureaucrats. They're being traded on.
