Hi guys, another question!!
The numbers down the side of volume indicators (Just volume... nothing fancy) do they represent the NUMBER of trades, or the amount of millions traded, or something else?
Just curious to know!

The number is typically in lots which is a standard $100,000 (assuming you're trading dollars).

Since Forex is off-exchange, you can't really rely on those numbers...that's just the number which your group of banks/dealers are reporting to you. Volume analysis has always been difficult on the Forex market. I'd stick with price first and foremost and use volume as a tool for amusement when bored.

tick movements per preiod.

The logic is that it is somewhat directly related to volumes. The more volumes you have the quicker price moves and the larger you'll see a volume bar.

But in a literal sense no, the volumes indicator like Moody said is not even close to the actual volume figures that you have say for example at a stock exchange.

I guess that is a very real factor - volumes are shown only in what each broker has access to in their own servers. =
But most brokers have that many that it would be a fairly decent indication, wouldn't it?
Especially with something like MT4 that's used worldwide- or would its volumes only be showing you one broker's servers, not all calculated??

What matters most in ranking indicators with refernce to their abilities to "probe the future" is how many traders look at them, which is why price tops the list.

And because the vast majority is aware that the volumes they see on their mt4s are not even close to the actual volume indication not many accomodate this indicator in their trading arsenals, period.
