So, If i live in Miami, and I use Interbank which is currently 5 hours ahead of me....how would you configure....?
If i leave it at 0....would it trade any time of the day?

Here's my version 3.0 results for your trade mirror settings. Tough day at the office today for this one! The two big loss trades came at the hands of the s/l but had they not hit it, they would have been in profit soon afterwards.

Check your PM and get back to me when you have time.

Find out from your broker what their GMT offset is (i.e. 0, +2, -2, etc.) and then use that in the EA settings. Doesn't matter where you are relative to the broker. What matters is what your broker server time is realtive to GMT. Damon and I are in the same Central time zone yet his broker is GMT and mine is GMT +2.

Do NOT trade this live as we are in bug testing for order execution only and haven't yet begun testing which filters are best just yet. Most have been setting only the One Filter Trade (single) options and going with all the other basic default settings that come with the EA.

If "0", means your broker time is the same as GMT.

If want to trade 24hrs, put timetotrade1=0, and timetotrade2=24.

Otherwise, EA only trading at GMT 6 - GMT 19 hrs.

Wow, big difference there. Hard to say. I can't see your filters that engaged the trades. Damon's mirror is three separate gbpusd 30M charts, each chart has only 1 of the single filters active on it's corresponding EA and a lot size difference between all three to help ID which filter triggered it (prior EA version dropped the identification window of the filter used on the trade). GMT offset on each, default settings otherwise. I used 1 lot for MACD, 2 lots for SF and 3 lots for ZF. Interesting and not what I would have expected.

Well, as earlier mentioned, I was quite frustrated to see how my beautiful positive pips went horribly down by the end of the day.

Today I switched both ATR SL and TP to False.

1) Wolf - regarding message, I will read up on it this weekend and let you know.

2) IBFX = 0 GMT.. leave the default alone if you use ibfx

3) HORRIBLE day... lost -$800.28 for the day.. yikes.. not sure what gives here

I had more gbp trades than you guys as well I think, but of course different broker.

you know guys its evident to me that we are trying to use mainly oscillating indicators to determine which way the market is trending and to filter our trades accordingly.

I would like to be able to test a more traditional way of determining the trend by a simple double MA. possibly on two modes: 89 and 13, or 55 and 8.

obviously the rule is that only long trades are taken if fast is above slow and vise versa.

simple and robust....

And since I am not a programmer by any means, I am asking pretty please to those able in here to generate this seemingly easy indicator and I would be more than willing to experiment with it

Hey Cryder.....

I think that this will be worth looking into, but the bottom line so far is that all the trades are not being executed properly at this time. I still think it is more important to get the logic down, because adding and trying other filters then will be an easier and better addition to test.

I apoligize, I will not have version 3.0 up and running until Monday. A question for you however....

What about missed trades today on your broker with the new version. What is your evaluation of that?

Hey Gary...another thought came to mind....

Regarding the EA, is the EA reading the new filter direction after the close of the bar or when the indicator gives a new signal mid bar?

I noticed today that a trade did not occur on the same bar where the trend changed directions.

Which would be better? I am thinking in terms of simplicity, but close of the bar might be the time to read the trend. Whether this is better or worse I am not sure.

What do you think?

This strategy has no legs over time.. you would be better off looking at a system based around inside bars and outside bars.. much higher strike rate..

Well, overall, today was tricky because there were very few Slingshot bar setups inside the already narrow Friday trading window. As per the screen shot below/attached, IMHO, there were only less than 7 opportunities per definition of a Slingshot bar but some of them were not recognized as such by the Slingshot indicator and perhaps the EA. Not 100% sure.

Bar Label 1 my 11:00 - Slingshot bar (buy) but EA didn't trade it. Perhaps none of the filter definitions of MMF, SF and ZF qualified?

Bar Label ? my 13:00 - (no label but highest bar between bar label 1 and 2,) - Not really a Slingshot bar (sell) as per the indicator, but the EA took it. This was my first trade of the day. Two trades taken, MMF and SF.

Bar Label 2 my 15:30 - Not a Slingshot bar (buy) per the indicator but I think it is. EA didn't trade it either. Hard to say if the EA didn't trade it because it didn't recognize it as such or if the filters didn't qualify. EDIT: I see why now; PA didn't rise above prior bar Close.

Bar Label 3 my 17:30 - Slingshot bar (sell) but EA didn't trade it. Filters didn't qualify?

my 18:00 bar (between bar label 3 and 4) - Not a slingshot bar yet two buy trades were executed with a trigger of SF and ZF filter. This one really confused me as to why these trades happened. Still baffled. EDIT: I think the PA moved above the prior bar Close which triggered the buy trades but then price moved below the prior bar Close and then closed lower, the S/L was then hit on the next bar label 4.

Bar Label 4 my 18:30 - Slingshot bar (buy) but EA didn't trade it. Outside of 17:00 GMT Friday trade time zone?

Bar Label 5 my 20:00 - Slingshot bar (sell) but EA didn't trade it because outside of 17:00 GMT Friday trade time zone?

Bar Label 6 my 20:30 - Not a slingshot bar buy; didn't rise above prior bar label 5 Close, outside of 17:00 GMT Friday trade time zone?

Bar Label 7 my 22:30 -outside of 17:00 GMT Friday trade time zone?, not a slingshot bar as price never ran below the Close of prior bar, wasn't really paying attention to PA at this time, trading closed for the day shortly after.

Because I backtested the original method by using a combination of 30 min and 5 min charts manually.. and yes using filters would maybe improve results, I didn't use them.. but the ratio of profit to stop loss turns the account negative very quickly after a few decent winning periods.. this was using the original idea of closing at bar close by the creator (Martin). A system needs a half decent strike rate in it's original form before adding filters. Trying to add filters to system which is very much a loser in the first instance is a waste imo..

However, I am not trying to bring down the hard work of some on this thread as I admire your commitment etc.. I do suggest, aside from your work on this, you also try looking at a system based on breaks of inside / outside bars from within periods of consolidation.. this has a far greater strike rate without filters.

use some sort of trend filter on 1 hour / 4 hour charts and try only to filter the trades without turns from extremes on say a 15 minute chart etc (I use a couple of MTF indicators set a longer time frames to filter).. anyway.. it's an idea championed by a gu on babaypips (james I think he is called) and it tends to have a great strike rate.. If anyone could make into an EA with filters and only trade during euro/early us sessions it should be good..
