Just found this gem, thanks Ronald. 2 things... any way to have it paint behind everything and is there a way to just have it paint the red...no green. it really looks great, but I would love to have my charts back lol. Thanks again Ronald

When you added the step variable...it looks like the prices in between each step are not considered at all, correct?

If you mean I didn't define the rules what step value should be used, correct.
(Main intention then was to reduce price steps for higher timeframe as I wrote.)

This is basically the same problem as what multiplier value should be used.
They depend on the numbers of bars to include (multiplier) and the range to draw horizontal lines (price step).

Of course I thought it is necessary to have a method to define the range (not by current chart window) and handle price steps.
The method to define the range can be H/L of bars to include or any other methods.
But method itself must be fixed.

To handle price steps, I think you can define "green (red) area" (continuous green (or red) lines)
by defining the threshold that devide green and red and count them as % of all price steps.
(If you count the number of lines by percentage, the step interval has less meaning.)

example)
1) define if the color is more than "70% green" call it "green", if the color is less than "30% green" call it "red".
2) define if "green" last more than 10% of all price steps (e.g. 30/300 lines) call it "green area"

Regarding to Multiplier, I think the same.
It shouldn't be a user defined "value", but a value defined by the "ratio" against maybe bars to include (this value can be defined by user).

As I'm not keep tracking well how this subject is going on now,
I hope what I wrote makes sense.

FF reduced the image size unfortunately, but it looks like you need a multiplier of 50 for that one!

Yep and using longer history - broke through and went straight till it hit the next resistance last hit on the 13th. did a little wobble in another zone on the way up.

yeah but it doesnt work for the indicators. i'm using bollinger bands with it but the bands are in the background. the chart is in the foreground, but the indicator isnt. i was wondering if there is a line of code where the DRAW_OBJECT part is where i can specify that the lines are supposed to be drawn as background objects.

You can switch the code in the template file. Just put the bollinger band code before the other code, but after the main window code.
