Hedging is going to be banned at all USA brokers within the next couple months. I called IBFX and they told me hedging will be disabled very soon.

Are they going to lower the leverage as well ? To 1:50 or something like that ?

Yes, they are doing that as well. The max leverage allowed will be 100:1 on the majors and 25:1 on the non majors. Not only that, they are going to clamp down on all USA citizens who open an account account with offshore brokers. Great country we live in, Huh? Land of the free LOL!

might be time for you non-US citizens to jump ship to canada or somewhere if you can, its looking really bad for the US in general...

Where did u get the information that they are going to approve changing the leverage ? Or u assume that they are going to approve it ?

Well, if that happens you will be stuck trading one or two currencies and getting a small return. Somehow industry leaders think a bunch of guys trading 200-1000 dollars is damaging the industry. It will restrict the number of people trading to a select few big traders who then need big suckers to enter the markets. Hopefully by then I will know how to do this successfully. We can become like China that tries to make sure no one can get out of the country with large sums of money.

The leverage I am not sure on. I surely hope it gets stopped and does not become a law. As far as the hedging, I called IBFX and they told me it will be disabling hedging soon. They would not give me an exact date.

This banning hedging thing doesnt make sense to me unless they are only doing it with brokers. Banks hedge currencies all the time when they have big orders to protect themselves from sudden currency fluctuations. Big businesses do the same. For example if A company sells B company in another country widgets and they know they wont get paid for 6mo to a year. They hedge the currency on the market so they dont lose their profit with currency devaluation during that time. The monkey business that would go on as one company refuses to pay because the currency is devaluing, hedging protects a company's and bank's profits. This is common practice in the industry. I just dont see it happening unless it is only going to be applied to traders and not banks and businesses.

i believe its coming from the democratic background. i have brought up the woes of trading to my dem friends and they tell me that some people should not trade. from what i can tell they just look down on general society. there is one thing you have not thought of. you know your margin is used a few days afterwards to line up all the trades.

you know clear all those trades before you can withdraw money. even though you cleared them a while back. thats margin in use. why do you think you can only trade 3 times a week if you dont have 25k for daytrading. margin is leveling off.

you know what i'm saying?

For any Democrats here, close your eyes. Their philosophy is that people are stupid, and need to be protected, and they are the protectors. If someone loses their home because they can't pay the loan they took out, it's not the persons fault. It's the banks fault for loaning that person the money. Not much difference between current day Democrats and socialism. If a forex trader loses money, it's not his fault. It's the fact that he was allowed to have too much leverage. If someone murders someone, it's not the person. There's too many guns in the U.S. I could go on, but I won't. They are in power now, and maybe they read the forex boards!

This is kinda what I had in mind, not sure about the numbers though, I would have to work them out. Regardless, we are talking about the same thing, ultimately I think we all are, a way to trade bigger lot sizes on smaller accounts while averaging down or losses.

One thing that has me a bit confused with your concept though is the initial entries, you don't seem to have any multiplication there or am I missing something?

I will say right now that you are totally wrong!!! First off, I am not a democrat or a republican. I am registered as an independent because I do not believe in the extremes of conservative republicans or liberal democrats. Conservative republicans are no better than liberal democrats by the way... look at the 8 years of Bush LOL. Now, the reason I say you are wrong us because all of Europe and Canada is based on a Socialistic government principal. However, none of them are putting the restrictions on the forex market like the USA is. To say it is Democrats (or socialists as you call them) is just ridiculous IMO.

for this set you have multiplication in the counter trade thats your martingail. difference is every step you cancel the step below it. this would slow the eating up of your margin.
and the in trend is following the trend. its not multiplying in this one but its leaving the trades in from steps before it. that can act as compounding hedge. but of base lot size in this case .01
i was actualy working on a martin that martins when low and if theres a longer trend it transforms to trending using hedging. but i dont think that will work if they ban hedging.

I see where you are going with this, I'll play around with the numbers some more, but it's not quite what I meant. But after reading what forexisfx had to say, I started to once again look at this in a slightly different manner. I don't think there is any point in hedging a trade to average down our losses if is also going to average down our winnings all the time.

So, once again, in the spirit of the original recovery EA I reassessed my hedge concept. What I am ultimately trying to do is let the EA run it's course, but unequivically avoid the death trade, that way we can also trade slightly higher lots with more 'peace of mind' as such. So tell me what you guys think of this.

If we were once again to trade something like 50x30 with 6 levels with a 250 SL, we would get to the 150 pips that Bob was talking about in an earlier post. However, by the time I get to the 6th level at 150 pips I'm starting to sweat. So I take a hedge trade in the direction of the trend at 150 pips. If you use the right lot size, you will breakeven if the trade retraces to the 6th level TP. However if it carries on going and stops out, the hedge will reduce your loss to about 10% instead of 25%. More manageable if you ask me. However, let's take it one step further, if the EA gets stopped out, change the hedge trade to a trailing stop. That way you could possibly ride out more gains if the trend continues down thereby further reducing your loss.

By hedging this way, you are not averaging down your wins along with your losses, instead your looking to limit just your losses when the EA has reached it's maximum range. What do you think of the concept?
