how long are the server downtimes atm? that would not bode well for 24x5 EA users
Ignored

The quote server remains running so your EA calcs are not affected, but trades are not executed. The down time seems to be about 15 mins nightly.

It is true you can telephone trade, but during an event, 60 or 100 pips can go by before that could ever be accomplished. Keeping losses small and letting trades run is the name of the game with highly leveraged instruments, hence protective stop loss orders.

Justin,

My other area of concern is the nightly server down time, during which I have been told that standing stops will not be exectuted. I was told at signup that you were working to move this to the roll over period, which is the quietest time in the 24 hr day, and the safest time to handle that as we are offline for roll over anyway. Another thing promised that has yet to be delivered.

Metatrader does not have a midnight maintenance for live or demo, only the Navigator does and there are plans to remove or drastically reduce that time as well.

Afternoon from the UK.

I've had my demo account for 4-5 days now and have been trying to get my Expert Advisers to make trades.

I have yet to get one single trade to open.

All the EA's are set the same as my other demo and indeed live accounts on other platforms and the smiley face is there on MBT but no trades.

can anyone help please?

Thanks in advance.

Nigel

Thanks for heads up on the MBT Research Seminar Justin, it was short and sweet, highlighting the major functions of the MBTResearch and Morning Notes facilities which the MBNavigator now provides. And may I say, these are awesome. Really looking forward to using these resources and any further developments you may include in the future. I strongly recommend any MBT user, forex or otherwise, get themselves booked in for the next seminar to make the most of this feature.

Yes they do. It's 2/3 a pip commission added to 1/2 a pip to 1 pip spread on EUR_USD for example, often lower during the European and NY sessions.

As ECNs go, MB is a bit high at 1/2 a basis point, but you get that rate even if you're not trading 100,000 unit lots.

If you can't break into profitabliity with these spreads/commissions, you need to improve as a trader, not find lower transaction costs. You've reached a point of deminishing returns from lower fees at some point.

Can anybody tell me how their custom indicators or EA's work with the MB Trading MT4 platform? I'm not much of an EA trader but i have a neat lil money management ea I downloaded off this forum that I use regularly. I have downloaded the demo, I guess I'll find out on my own soon enough.

Also, can you trade gold on the Mt4 charts?

regards all

Crassius, thank you for helping and to elaborate a bit further I’m providing a quick breakdown.

With MB Trading, US dollar based pairs (e.g. USD/JPY) the average spread is 1 PIP and as Crassius mentioned the spread at times is lower during European and NY sessions.

The commission for all US dollar based pairs is $5.00 per 100,000 USD Traded or $10 round trip.

USD/JPY Trade Cost: 1 PIP + $10 round trip = $20 or 33% cheaper.

Similar to the EUR/USD, the average spread is 1 PIP and many times less during active trading hours.

For Non-US dollar based currencies we calculate the commissions based on the current deal rate.

Formula: Base Commission x Deal Rate = total commission

$5.00 * (EUR/USD deal rate) 1.2875 = $6.43 or $12.87 round trip.

EUR/USD Trade Cost: 1 PIP (many times less) + $12.87 (round trip cost) = $23.00 or %23 cheaper.

Going one set further, if you are not placing a market order, I always suggest taking advantage of the ability to post trades between the spread with a limit order. Remember, MB Trading does not put any restrictions on your limit orders like many firms.

Hi Justin,

regarding Safety of Funds, in that page it is stated that Commodity Futures Contracts and Forex are ineligible for SIPC protection. What kind of "peace of mind" do you propose to Forex Traders?

thank you,
