Hi llambert3 -

Which trade options are you using?

Daily EA Totals Update:

6 failures out of 49 total... $1/lot = $324.09

Now, all 49 were without the stops put in and that costed the demo big time as the EA did not close a GU buy that failed and it is still in it down $280, so pretty much wiping out today's profit. The EA closed all other failures, just not this one, so lesson learned.

I am not quite sure what exactly the other filters are yet, so I will have to study it to determine if the EA traded correctly.

I set the ---One Filter Trades ---- all to TRUE

My results had no stop though unless the EA moved it to the 1 pip high/low, so it is quite possible a lot of these trades would've hit the stop in the same 30m candle, but since I had no stop, they passed.. I don't know if that was the case or not.

I didn't break mine by system or timeframe, but here was the result

EJ: +234
EU: -36
GJ: -45
GU: +47
UJ: +97
Total = +297

Now I took a -281 loss on GU because of the EA not working, so the GU total I guess would be +2 with a 45 stop

This is part of the code originally provided by Orest and I've not looked at it in detail - mainly because I haven't had any problems with it. You are correct in that it uses the spread plus a pip as well as the high/low of the bar in which a particular trade is opened. It also looks at a couple of other conditions. I'll take a look at this part of the code again and compare it with damonl's rules in post #1. Given what happened in your run away trade today, I want to specifically check to see what the code does if no SL is set in the ea parameters. I'll get back to you soon.

yea looks like some confusion on this part. I see in the EA he uses +1 plus spread now. Mine overnight was 5 pips below the ej low, which ej has 4 pip spread. I think only when we look at the high should we add the spread, not the low.

Do you have a 5digit broker? I have mine on 30m and 1hr chart for the 5 pairs listed as well.

Gary, the one thing I noticed yesterday was 2 EU trades happened at the same exact time.. one on 1hr and the other 30m... both the candles closed against, but only the 30m had the stop loss moved to +1 of the high. The 1hr did not and should've lost, but it closed at +1. The GU yesterday was a 30m trade that did not move to +1.

After I filtered out some confusion I had about TP settings, and other, such as times to trade, the recent performance of SS, from last evening on the main pairs and TFs in Post 1, until now, is 53 wins and 3 losses. This would be in the mid 90% at this point.

Gary, when you add trading times for user input, would you consider perhaps *3* sets of times there?

In addition, also could we consider perhaps times *not* to trade (either *instead* of times *to* trade...or even *within* the times to trade! ...for best control - like when there is news, we would not have to change the basic settings of our selected trading times, but can - day by day - close the EA for a period *around* the news)!

Regards to all involved. And also to those who just reap the benefits of caring work and sacrifice of others. Undeserved. May we be *very* thankful.

Ron

Hello folks,

I'm new to this forum and new to Forex as well. Perhaps someone can point in the right direction to what I'm doing wrong?

I have a live account with FxPro and have all five currency pairs open in both 30m and 1h timeframes. I have attached the Slingshot 2.1 EA to each one and have downloaded and opened the Max Macd colour indicator for each pair too.

The only things I have changed myself have been the SL's (as per post #1), GMT offset to 2, Time to trade1 6 and Time to trade2 19. Everything else is default. (one filter trade is set to true)

I have the smily face in the corner but as yet, no trades whatsoever.

Yes, I am a complete newbie so it could be that I'm doing something totally stupid but if anyone could give me some pointers then it would be much appreciated.

Great site by the way and keep up the good work. The info on here is fantastic for the new peeps.

Cheers!

Hi Ron.

Can you just clarify what the take profit parameters should be for each pair please.

Just been reading though various posts and suddenly realised that I was only setting a stop loss, not a take profit.

Looked at post 1 but cannot see a mention of TP.

Also what are your "best times" to trade.

Thanks in advance.

Nigel

Good morning llambert3 -

I reviewed the original SL and move SL code last night. I think there are some issues we need to discuss and see if we want to change them. I need to organize my thoughts but here are some initial observations.

1. It does use the spread in calculating the stop loss when the SL is moved. I think damonl only talks about moving the SL 1 pip above/below the high/low and does not mention the spread. If I'm correct (and I've misread post #1 before) then ea is not performing the way damonl wants it to for this system.

2. For a buy, the inital SL is properly set xx pips below the entry price, xx = the SL in post #1 specific to the trading pair. If at the close of the entry candle and the trade is not profitable, the SL is moved - there is more than one option in the current code that I will not go into in this message. However, in the existing code for moving the SL, for a buy order, one option is the SL is moved 1 pip below the entry bar plus the spread .......... hmmmm?!

Here's the code for those who like to look at this type of stuff, any and all comments are appreciated:

void moveStopLosses()
{
int cnt, total = OrdersTotal();
double dblStop, dblTightestStop;
for(cnt=0;cnt<total;cnt++)
{
OrderSelect(cnt, SELECT_BY_POS, MODE_TRADES);
int index = iBarShift(NULL, 0 , OrderOpenTime());
if (index==-1) return;

if (orderBelongsToMe() && OrderProfit() < 0)
{
if (OrderType()==OP_BUY)
{
dblStop = Low[index]-(MarketInfo(Symbol(),MODE_SPREAD)*Point)-1*Point;
dblTightestStop = Bid - MarketInfo(Symbol(),MODE_STOPLEVEL) * Point;
if ( dblStop > dblTightestStop && Stoploss>0)
dblStop = OrderOpenPrice()-Stoploss*Point;

if (dblStop < OrderOpenPrice() && dblStop != OrderStopLoss() && dblStop < dblTightestStop)
OrderModify(OrderTicket(),OrderOpenPrice(),dblStop,OrderTakeProfit(),0,Green);
}
else if (OrderType()==OP_SELL)
{
dblStop = High[index]+(MarketInfo(Symbol(),MODE_SPREAD)*Point)+1*Point; //MarketInfo(Symbol(),MODE_SPREAD)*Point+
dblTightestStop = Ask + MarketInfo(Symbol(),MODE_STOPLEVEL) * Point;
if ( dblStop < dblTightestStop && Stoploss>0)
dblStop = OrderOpenPrice()+Stoploss*Point;

if (dblStop > OrderOpenPrice() && dblStop != OrderStopLoss() && dblStop > dblTightestStop)
OrderModify(OrderTicket(),OrderOpenPrice(),dblStop,OrderTakeProfit(),0,Red);
}
}
}
}

Hi Mr. B.

Whatever you do test the EA on a Demo account first as I don't think any of the developers are running it live yet. (Gary, Damon care to comment?).

Take a look at post number #204 which gives all the indicators to use and a template.

You need to:-

Put the EA ver 2.1 in the Experts Folder which you seem to have done.
Put the 3 indicators, zee Zee, MACD and Slingshot bars in Indicators folder.
Put the Slingshot multi filter test window template into the templates folder.

Open a chart, load the template and drag the ver 2.1 EA into it. Set a parameter for stop loss and take profit.

When you've done this save the template, I add my initials into the saved filename so I know it's mine.

When you load the template it automatically drags the MACd and Stochastic indicators in, you don't need to do it manually.

If you've done all the above you should start to see some trades.

Best of luck. I'm new to this as well but found this thread as I was running the system manually. It looks like it will be a very good robot once completed.

Regards

Nigel
