Slingshot 30M & 1H - The 2nd Coming......

For testing I hae set up the EA using all 9 methods available. The other 2 methods are putting both groups of 3 to true as well as each individual within that group. Thus giving us the extra 2 set-ups.

Will be very curious as to how this works, and if it does, that would be great as it would minimize the amount of open charts.

Sounds good - will be very interested in seeing the results. I'm working to see if I can get the ea to find the trends a little earlier so we don't waste trading time if we have to reset our computer, start metatrader over or want to change ea parameters. I will also do some trading and post the results. Sunny and in the mid 70's today here in central Florida - nuts, no ice fishing today!

Thanks for all the Team's efforts to get where you are.

I'm trying to reproduce your test results with little success.

Is it possible to post 2 or 3 screenshots of the inputs you are using please so I can compare?

Also I get an error message in the journal which says that it could not find the MACD_inColor.ex4 file in the indicators directory.

I've copied the MAX_MTF_MACD_inColor.ex4 file but should there be another one?

I've searched the site for just a MACD_inColor file and have looked through ALL the posts on this thread but I may well have missed it.

Hi Nigel -

I think all the indicators you need are listed in post #1 and post #204. The template in post #204 shows the the various indicators on a chart of your choice. If you still having problems after checking these out, please let me know and I'll see if we can figure it out. Glad to help where I can.

It is Sunday evening and I just started the ea (version 2.0) that I put on the thread on Friday afternoon. I just noticed that the initial on screen comment when the ea first starts ("SlingShot_2.0 is waiting for the next tick to begin.") was still on the screen. When I was testing the ea, I used different comments to help debug the program and when I restored them, I overlooked turning this comment off so to speak at the appropriate time. Please ignore the on screen comment, the ea is running and will start to trade when you get inside whatever trading time window you set in the ea parameters. I've fixed this little problem in version 2.1 which I will post early in the week. I want to wait a bit and see if other bugs show up now that trading has opened for the week.

Well, looks like the bug I thought was fixed is still running around in the ea. Overnight results for my trades show, for example, short trades when all three filters were showing long trends. So back to work on the ea today - I'll get version 2.1 out as soon as I find this pesky critter and squash it!......again!

Well with Gary & Damon's help I finally got the system up and running on my FXDD demo account. Haven't noticed any bugs.

System has been installed on 5 recommended pairs with ALL filter options set to true (just to see how things pan out). I'm getting 3 trades at the same time in some instances to reflect, and indeed confirm, that all the filters are aligned.

Default of 0.1 lots on a $12k account.

First trade closed at 10:30 UK time.

Total trades today:

Pavatar Slingshot No. Trades:40, No. Wins:34, No. Losses:6, PnL: $ 180.81

Very impressive!

After your backtest, you can see the report and then right click "save as...."
Your report will be in your MT4 folder....
It's really easy.
Searching for a bug has reminded why backtesting in the metatrader strategy tester can give one a false sense of success or failure at times (actually many times) and you have to forward test your code to find out how it is really working.

In this case, when I backtested version 2.0 on Friday, I didn't see any bugs and went a head and posted the ea. This morning (Monday) I did notice a couple random trades (out of a great many) that should not have been taken and at least one that was missed. So.............I backtested the data and, again, no improper trades = it worked as intended. These results reminded me of a lesson I've learned (and forgotten at times) about some of the many flaws in the metatrader strategy tester.

In any case, I've chased down the potential bug and made a slight change in the code. I am forward testing the ea (version 2.1) now to see if this bug has been properly identified and fixed. There could be other bugs and I'll depend on more forward testing and your feedback to help me identify any other trading issues you may come across.

Hi PAd.

Might seem obvious but you have only put the slingshot version 2.0 .ex4 file into the Experts folder haven't you?

All the other files need to go into the Indicators directory other than the template which of course needs to go into the templates folder.

If you then open a chart window and "load, template" all the indicators will show.

Any other probs loading this just holla. I struggled for a little while but it's worth it when you get there, see my results.

Do you have it set up to open multiple trades at once? Or do you have it running on multiple charts? I noticed that almost every time it opens multiple trades at the same time.
