V7a adopts BluePerl's suggestion to check lower tf's when looking to close a trade on a recross.

From the user guide:

 

  1. CloseDcTradesOnRecross: this tells the EA to close open trades if the trigger strength indices re-cross against the trade. These re-crosses turned out to be fleeting due to wide jumps from tick to tick; for example, it is normal to see JPY at 25 on one tick, then 75 on the next. This meant that trades were being closed at a loss, based on an incorrect reading of the relative strength of the two currencies in the pair. I have adopted BluePerl's suggestion of checking for a recross on lower time frames so:

    1. CloseDcLowerTimeFrameFilter1: this should represent the next tf down from the one you are trading. The default of 240 represents the 4H tf, as this is a daily trading strategy.
    2. CloseDcLowerTimeFrameFilter2: this should represent the second tf down from the one you are trading. The default of 240 represents the 1H tf, as this is a daily trading strategy.

I do not know how much difference this will make. At the moment, the EA looks for a cross from the previous lower tf period. If this does not work properly and trades are still closed unnecessarily, it is the work of seconds to make the EA look for a recross in the same way it looks for a cross - the recross occurred in the previous period and is confirmed in the current one. We shall see.

i really dont understand how to set a basket, really to much indicator in it and it dizzies me..

how to set a 0.05 lot OP with TP 50 SL 100, when the price move to 50, SL move to BE and it closed 0.01 lot, TP to +100, when price move to +100, it set SL to +50 and TP to 150 and so on till the last lot it will be trailing stop.

or anybody can help me pls with this setting?

btw..im manual back test the daily cross and record it on excel, will attach soon if im finish, maybe can help anybody..

Thanks to Steve and Sahars that helped me to solve my problems which was preventing my EA to trade automaticaly ( I did not have trades yet but I do not have errors in the expert advisor tabs anymore, so Will see on monday).

I would like to dicuss with some of you guys the following points:

1- the back test is not working on the EA.....Am I not doing something correctly ? or is it normal or not possible (some signals can not be downloaded or not available, stored and processed on large time scale !) ....I think that it will be useful for us to have this facility in order to adjust and play with the settings....I know that live data are more reliable than past recorded data's (metatrader past data's are not reliable compared to esignal/tradestation)..... but has someone already wanted or made the back testing working on the EA or not?.......(slap me if I m telling something stupid here! http://www.forexfactory.com/images/icons/icon13.gif)

2-Also within this EA there is 2 other strategy that no one is speaking about(or not often), these are the original method and tranding range method, is it because they have been already tested in live and they are not so interesting versus DC method or is it because of there bad results, less profitable or something else?
I saw that mainly the DC method was of some interest. Is it not interesting to work also on the other ones? has someone already made good live trading result with the 2 other methods.

Hope I will not take too much time out of you guys on those 2 points.

its not that the other 2 methods aRE NOT profitable--we just noticed that a cross on the daily timeframe of the relative strenghts hadly ever post losses--and so we have been trying to make it better ever since..lol

i trade the other 2 methods on a regular and they work just fine--

BTW----i new some muthf**er would want to sell this EA someday--hope you hold on tight to your codes stevehopwood.

Hope people continue to post ideas about this ea--and someday we could make it perfect----and hope you trademark your ea --steve

Me too. You not noticed any problems with the Original method entering trades in the wrong direction? Mine took out a basket on Friday that looked a bit odd, but I haven't thought about it much since.

I do, although, truth to tell, I am not all that bothered. Any EA I code can be equally well coded by any competent coder. The genius lies in KG's indis and the ideas that have flowed here; I am just the mechanic that bolts them all together.

Let's hope that not too many people are fleeced before they discover they can get it for free here.

I say, 'for free' but it isn't completely free of charge. Ok, so not financial, but reading this thread and making sense of EA must be a mammoth task for anyone who gets into it late. We are seeing an increasing number of posts here, and my pm inbox is filling up with enquiries from, people unable to make the effort required.

I wonder how the 'fleecer' gets over this problem? Because I am not charging for the EA, I can simply ignore it.

Never mind. Thanks for your kind comments, taomql4. With the help of people like you, we are indeed developing a magnificent EA.

found out that KG manual daily cross really works cause i trade daily before jump to this thread. actually what i seek from the thread is medium term trade method since ive found my daily is accountable.

but since KG mentioned about daily cross, i want to test the signal accuracy with last year data and till now what ive discovered with EU data is avg profit per month one is 500 - 1000 pips, that is from 1 pair only not mention the other.

so i would like to begin manual forward test tomorrow daily cross method and the other method too manually since still figure out how the EA is working for me and the optimal setting for it (i live in the asia).

Just for clarification, your ea only needs to be placed on a single 1hr chart (such as the gbpjpy) correct?
Looking forward to seeing how it does this week.

1. No, you can not do a backtest... that's why we do a forward test to test it.
2. All works perfectly and profitable... what we do now is trying to improve and maximize the ability of our EA for collecting pips and reduce DD issue.

I was toying with the idea of asking you whether its possible to have an option at x pips place a choice of an opposite trade or hedge.

Why? this gives an option to lock in a "loss" until I can decide how to trade out of it. Also reduce the draw down because you dont know how wild a ride you may get. I tried to do this with Steve's trade manager, but it was too much for my system to handle.

If its too difficult, no worries.

I've been following this idea since ES started it 3 threads ago. Very good collaboration of ideas and programming here. About the people that sell your ideas. If you would program a couple lines of code into your indicators or EA that simply stated " This indicator ( or EA ) is free at forexfactory.com " and have this appear on the main screen. This would help stop the cons and make the suckers aware they had been taken.
Somebody over on TSD did this (FX Sniper ?? not sure) and I liked the idea. Just an idea. terry

Thanks, terry. You will find that matrixebiz and I are already doing this in the latest versions of our EA's.

Good idea for you, though, KG. A little late in the day, I know, but you could always delete your earlier versions and I could replace the existing one when I release a zipfile.
