DislikedGary-
Great work. I really appreciate you taking the time. Is there anyway to test using no filters? I tried setting everything to false - but it wouldn't trade. Just wanted to back test using no filters as a control.
Also, how does it trade if all the single filters are set to true? Is it just looking for one of the filters to be in the right direction?
Thanks,
NickIgnored
DislikedI just finished my modifications to the ea today. I don't have any test results yet to know if using more than one filter to indicate trend direction before taking a trade will result in more winners and/or fewer trades. Someone earlier in this thread asked if the capability could be built into the ea to try this. It wasn't that hard to do, therefore I did it so it could be tested. We'll need to test the idea and share the results so we can learn together.

DislikedRegarding the trading times, two items you need to know. First, the default is 0700 - 2000 GMT per post #1. You need to change these times depending on your broker. For example, my broker is +2 relative to GMT, therefore I have to change the trading hours to 0900-2200 hrs in order to be correctly trading the 0700-2000 GMT. Secondly, if you want to trade with no time restrictions, then the proper setting in 0000-2500 hrs (the 2500 is not a typo).Ignored
DislikedHi Guys -
I've been away for a few days on family business - threads been busy and that's good.
damonl - the results your getting are a great inspiration to go forward!
Orest - thanks for the hard work on the ea, very nice programming. Looking forward to helping with the testing.
To llambert3 (and others) who have provided the detail testing, its appreciated.
Attached is a 'family' of filter indi's based on the list in post 1. I'll give a little description, but the best thing is to try them out and provide feedback if you think they will be...Ignored
DislikedAttached is the modified ea started by the fine efforts of Orest. I found and fixed the bug that I had observed. There may be other issues as we collectively test drive this version of the ea.
All three filters that I have info on from damonl are now included - maxmacd, stochastics and zzi. I've also increased the number of ways these filters can be traded. For example, you can trade just using the maxmacd filter, or just the stochastic filter or just the zzi filter. Or you can trade any combination of filters, for example you can trade only when...Ignored

1. As written, the ea will not trade without using at least one filter. The reason is that several of us tested this without a filter (= original SlingShot method) and it just wouldn't provide winning results. This is all spelled out in a different, earlier thread. I could change this ea so it would trade without the filters but that's the subject of the earlier thread and not this one. I'll leave it up damonl if he wants such a change in this ea.
2. If you set each individual filter to true, it will trade if any one the filters...Ignored

DislikedAs I understand it, each filter is a separate mini EA. The filters included go by sets, which basically means more trades.Ignored
DislikedJust having an idea about following the trend using the macd.
The charts below show in the macd window arrows with the rules to follow the trend and in the bars chart the indicator Heiken Ashi. Some times the macd still indicating a trend even it is the opposite direction. The letters A, B and C are to match the differences between these two indicators.

DislikedHey Gary, does this mean that I can set all the 1 filter trades to true and it will monitor all 3 filters at once and open up a possiblity of 3 trades (one for each filter). This means then I only need to have the EA on one chart rather than 3. Is that correct?
Thanks...DamonIgnored
DislikedHi Damon -
You are correct - that is the way the ea is suppose to work - I'm testing it now to see if it really trades this way. RR is correct in his description of a mini set of ea's - The idea is you can select any one, two....all the way up to all 7 trade options and they will all trade independently of each other on a single chart.

I ran the ea on one chart (GBPUSD, M30) for Jan. 2 - Jan. 30, 2009 with the following results:
3 filters run one at a time:
mmacd filter = 136 trades
stoch filter = 136 trades
zzi filter = 154 trades
3 run total = 426 trades
3 filters all run at the same time on one chart
1 run total = 421 trades
Second test, I ran the ea on one chart (GBPUSD, H1) Jan. 2009:
3 filters run one at a time:
mmach filter = 69 trades
stoch filter = 74 trades
zzi filter = 70 trades
3 run total = 213 trades
