EOD -1 day hold

I'm having awesome results manually backtesting this system...just added ADX non-repainting indicator and AO.

Could someone make an EA for this method using these indicators? Similar to the 1.ex4 but with these indicators instead of CCI

Rules: Open trade in direction of indicators - both must match to open trade, then close trade EOD, no SL or TP.

Can you post your AO, mine chart is completely different from yours?

Never mine, I found it, cannoit use the one with MT4 - its different.....

And the bastardization of a simple system begins.... geee what if we add this indicator, or that indicator....
they are based on what is already on the chart...PRICE.

Price affects the indicator, not the other way around

they confirm nothing....... everything you need is already on the chart.

Can you confirm what the rules are that the EA has been coded to do etc?

Is it taking the entry after the retracement (WAITING FOR UP/DOWN RETRACE BAR) or just on the cross of the ADX? (arrows)

Can you possibly post a decomplied version of the EA on the forum.

Paulus, you seem to be using the word "Swap" when you mean "Pair" correct? Your posts have been confusing to me when you indicate that you will "check a particular swap" I thought you meant you were going to check the swap rate (interest paid or earned) of a pair as to how it affects your trading system.

Just wanting to make sure that when you say "swap" you really mean "pair" is this correct?

Maybe at the end of day 1 the ADX gives a long-signal,but at an up-candle. According the rules,we are waiting for a short-candle for entry. So we look at
the end of the next day. Maybe there is still an up-candle, we look the next day. How often should we wait?

you wait untill either

You get a candle in the opposite direction no matter how long it takes or you get an ADX signal in the opposite direction and then you strat looking again

ie

we get adx long on up bar
next day up bar
and the next
next day down bar..we go long
next day we close

or

we get adx long on up bar
next day up bar
and the next
next day adx down signal
we now look for the up bars

Been following this one with interest. Looks great so far! Thanks for the idea.

I do have a quick question. Do you only tade the first retracement after an arrow appears? Or do you trade several if they appear before the ADX crosses again?

I've also taken a look at this weekly, Looks great there as well.

A thought on Money Management. If there was an EA available, that could give us an idea on the average size of losses through the last 3 or 5 or 10 years (more the better I guess). Then we could use that number as an expected loss to give us a value to base a fixed percentage MM system on?

yes good idea on the MM

there is always a solution..must be there for safety but not inhibit the trade.

I would trade just the 1st retracement havnt got any stats on any othrs

It would be good to have a new page with the definitive rules for this system including SL, so anyone joining the thread for the first time can easily follow the system, otherwise they might get a bit confused.

Perhaps edit them onto page 1 and then refer people there as we go etc.

If the system changes then that page can simply be edited, but it makes it really easy to find, rather than piecing it together from the other pages.

Thanks for sharing it with everyone.

Just for the fun of it, I think I will branch out and try it a little differently. My plan is to take EVERY valid pullback after getting the ADX signal, not just the first one.

I will start testing it on demo right away, and If I can find the time I will backtest it too. It may be more (or less) profitable as taking only the first pullback, but I'll let everyone know either way.

I belive its the number of days the calculation for the adx is done over so 14 is 14 periods in this case 14 days if on a 1min chart it would mean 14 x min bars

The trade is short at 9pm close at 9pm tomorrow

eurgbp waiting for down bar to go long

We have a very small down bar now at 8.25pm uk time if its there at 9pm I will go long closing tommorow at 9pm

Ok, I'm testing. Started on 15 pairs. will take all retracements. I'm just going fixed lots MM at the moment 0.5 lots on a 50000 demo at FXDD.

I'm thinking till an EA appears that will caculate an average loss over a long period. I might use a 100 period ATR value * 1.5 for a risk value and then work off a fixed percentage type system?

Any comments on this?
