Although I could be wrong, I don't believe there's any way to know which currency pair(s) will be affected by options expiry dates without actually hearing about large option orders from the floor. FX options data is not published or widely available as far as I know since it's OTC, so the best you can hope for is to read the news/rumours from news services and/or squawkbox services.

Damnit!

Im clueless about the option expiration thing. I had just a faint idea but if it affects forex this much I really have to read abt it.

The thing is that it doesn't affect forex a lot. The USDJPY options today were extremely large, large enough to warrant a bit of coverage on morning CNBC airtime which generally focuses mainly on equities and fixed income.

FX options expire every day, and are not as standardized as equities and futures options. I wouldn't worry about them too much.

I wouldn't completely ignore them, certainly you should have a basic grasp of how they work and can affect the market (today was a very good example of that), but if you know the basics then you are probably all set.

Morning,

Usd/chf is pressing hard againts 11558 which is a big fib level and previous support.

Also lets see if Cable can climb above the 14056 area which will be no easy task (quite the bounce yesterday all accross the board)

This is day 3 since I've been trying to use BRV's method and I have made no trades. Am I too picky? What levels do you guys pick? Do you just use H1 or greater, or you look at the M15 chart too?

I hope this was kind to you, my +/-20 trailing stop meant I was stopped out with just 40 pips out of 100+ as it was so choppy yesterday.

At least the rally took off again right on cue where support met the 4h TL. And as I type it breaks through 9437.

3 days? Don't rush it, observe the reaction to the levels you pick.

I use weekly, daily, 4H, 1H for S/R and Fib test. 30m 15m and 5m to zoom in.

Just shorted EURUSD on retest of 1.2965 former support (became resistance). Took 20 pips partial profit, moved SL to breakeven and I'm letting it ride. God bless BRV and all you guys!

Update: took 45 pip partial profit and letting a small part run

Thanks, seattlerust. Don't worry. I lost a lot of trades this week. This is the first trade I took since last week. Other opportunities will always come.

Yeah, unfortunately, I missed 1.3081 . Well, I had a 25 pip stop initially, and I usually try to have a R/R of at least 1:2, that's why I took partial at 45 pips. Now I have SL at breakeven and I'll see if it goes down more, though it hit a support at 1.2900-1.2908 and made a nice bounce. I'm hoping for a break of that level and maybe a target at 1.2863 (100 pips). How's that?

Seattlerust, would you mind showing an example of a trade base on this? I notice your signature is Gartley, how long have you trade with this pattern? And do you see it every day or once every while? Is this pattern your bread and butter?

BTW, love Seattle and the Seahawks. I think they can do lots of damages now that you have a young coaches!!!! Should be more fun.

Good. It could find suuport 12890-12880, there's a weekly support line and a fib 78.6 there.

Got stopped out at +2. But that was a nice trade anyway. 78.6? I use 76.4... I wasn't aware that 78.6 is a fib level

Update: Ah, you prolly made a typo. I have 76.4 at 1.2896 so that's prolly what you meant
