Hi

You can open an account and hold your money in AUD with FXCM, Interactive Brokers and GFT. They are the only 3 i know of but i am sure there would a lot more.

Yeah I noticed that but it was just a problem with the demo, it looks like they were changing over from 5 to 4 digits on the demo as well, the market watch had 4 digits but the actual price quotes I was seeing were 5 digits.
I opened a live account, not yet funded but the spreads were fixed low at what they stated during that time the demo was off.
How long did it take for you to get confirmation that live account is open and it's OK to fund? I submitted app + ID verification past Thurs (so this would be 2 business days) and haven't heard back. 2 other brokers responded, I funded and I'm already live - as I type this.

It literally took them no more than 30 minutes to an hour from when I sent the online form until my account was approved, they sent me one email back after about 15 mins saying that I needed to scan and send some ID as they couldn't check my online ID for some reason, I scanned and sent it, 25 minutes later they replied and account was open ready to fund- Fast service! For me anyway. This was last Wednesday the 26th around 4- 4:30pm Sydney time. They always respond to my mails very quick.
Hi Anyone had experienced unusual spike in one broker/market maker trading platform on AUDUSD on 1 Dec 08 at 9.25amGMT while other trading platform like MT4 on the same time frame does not spiked up to a high at 0.64691 at all. Thinking of switching to a more reliable company.
Have asked the company for an explanation.

What you do is a reflection of you....what I do is a reflection of me.
Either I missed it or it's not posted on their site... but they don't accept US customers. Can't really blamed them. Been looking for a non-US broker accepting US clients for a while, though (not comfortable with Admiral or North Finance).

For what it's worth... For non-US traders... They were quick, professional, answered all my questions within minutes. Based on that, I would fund a small account to try them out, if they wanted me

Tax purposes, unless you nominate a different currency, you of course pay your tax in AUD and being denominated in AUD means your statements are in AUD and thus tax becomes much simpler - no need to convert USD, EUR or whatever back to AUD after you trade.
At this stage I can only say very good things about Go markets the Australian broker. I`m using the Meta Trader platform, trade mainly 30 & 60 min time frames. I have been trading with my live account for one week and previous to that was using demo. Everything is going fine and I love the fact you can trade straight off the charts, no need to go to a trade station setup.

they only pay you if you make small money.

YES THEY PLAY DIRTY ,MATE..
THEY WILL CLOSE ANY PLATFORM ..if they feel they loose money.
ITS happen to me when trade ASX200 ..they close the platform before expired time,..and they still charge the spread fee when they realize spikes, it also happen at WTi platform...they should give me the equity back, but they not.they still charge us on that technikal problems,

If you want use them to trade for small amounts ,,just go ahead, but once you make bit more profits,dont trust them...

whats it better to have the account denominantion in? USD or AUD?

also the smallest lot size is a micro of 1000... does that mean the next lot size up is 2000 units or does it go to 1100 units?

ie 0.1 then 0.2 (mini)

or 0.1 then 0.11 (mini)

Anyone having trouble with missing data on their charts? I seem to get it everyday on the 15min chart. Today there is a gap between 6:30 and 8:30 bars (server time)

Have not noticed the missing chart data, but for me the live server has been losing connection for several minutes many times each night (Oz time) this week. This has been the story since their failed ECN "style" feed experiment. Today they sent a message saying that they were backing up the server and it would be off line for up to 15 minutes... first time I've ever seen them send thus message.

Anyone else experiencing the connection dropping out?

Yes I am having it to.

The stupid thing is the 15 mins they are selecting, affects 5min, 15min, 30min and 1 hour candles 00:45 - 01:00 GMT (02:45 for their server time), so it affects the close of 5min, 15min, 30 min and 1 hour candles. If they had selected 15 mins earlier the 30 min and 1 hour would be unaffected.

Sometimes brokers are thoughtless.

But they could stuffed up the readings further... ...If only they could have selected 3 hours earlier they would have affected the 4 hour and daily candles too.

Due to recent rapid expansion of our client base we have seen a need to upgrade our server hosting systems to ensure the best possible service for clients on both the live and demo platforms. As part of this, we will be undergoing some changes this weekend (25-26 April 2009) including a change to having servers hosted at a new co-location site which provides considerable increases in available bandwidth.

By completing these upgrades we will be able to begin the live testing of our new FX feed for the clients who have currently signed up to take part. If you have not yet asked to take part in this test, please reply to this email quoting your account number.

Please note, before the changes take place there will be a server backup each day. This will result in server downtime and last for up to 15 minutes and will take place between 10.30-45 a.m. AEST. During this time if you need to trade please call us.

Whilst this is implemented we will be disabling clients’ access to the demo server until Monday 27th April. During this time we will continue to test the new price feed and ensure that all systems are in place correctly.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience during this disruption. If you would like to view prices, please do so using the live platform or by contacting our customer service team.

Well GoMarkets have gone live with 5 digit pricing and variable spreads.

And first impression... WOW!

I'm seeing spreads as low as 0 on EURUSD, and mostly less than 1 pip during London/NY session.

Less than 2 pip on AUDUSD, GBPUSD, USDCHF
Less than 3 pip on EURGBP - often less than 2 pips
Less than 1 pip on USDJPY
Less than 4 pip on GBPCHF

And the spreads are STAYING tight, not moving around wildly like before.

Haven't had any connectivity issues since this pricing came in this week, although it's still early days.

And the great news is, the spreads have been staying tight during the Asian session.

All I can say is... I hope it stays this good! Kudos to them, looks like they have it right this time.
any more thoughts on this broker?
I have done an application to open the account but o noticed last night the USDCHF price hadnt updated all day?
The new variable spreads still differ too high at times or my liking- even if its' seldom and more stable than before they can still momentarily go really high- I'm just concerned about this triggering pending orders/stops that I often use.
