wat a fool i was jus got the problem of liquidity in the market and all ecn brokers face the same issue and i am happy with the work Mb trading is putting in to reduce spreads in this volatile market

I have obviously missed something big here, the EFX site now redirects to the MB site, no more EFX?

EFX was bought by MB Trading on March 1, 2008. You can probably assume that the fact that the website now redirects means something is happening.

Yes, the spreads are tightening again. I wouldn’t say that they are quite normal yet, but a few things happened over the last 48 hours that improved them. Look for this to continue in the next couple of weeks.

Hey Justin,
I have recently become interested in the MB FIX gateway option.
I sent off a request for information with a view to opening a demo account, but so far all have received back is a rather vague question asking me what I want to use the FIX interface for...I would have though this was rather obvious. Anyway, I sent a reply explaining that I would like to use it for automated order placement (shocking!) and haven't heard anything since.
Is this the standard process? How long do these requests take? It just all seems a bit vague that's all.

The issue is that we have two ways to connect to us, via FIX and via SDK/API. FIX connections are usually only necessary for consumer-level applications. In other words, when NinjaTrader plugs their platform into us, they do it via FIX. For personal programming and applications that serve only a single purpose, the SDK/API is usually better and easier. What they are looking for are details about your application to determine whether you need FIX or not. Remember that there are costs, times, and certification issues with FIX applications. The SDK/API is just a matter of turning you on.

I'm not sure that's what you meant
It is the lack of middleware in the FIX solution which is peaking my interest.
I already have ATS software, but at the moment it is connecting though TWS to IB, TWS is a pain (as are other aspects of IDEALPRO). Comparatively the MB FIX solution looks more elegant.

I came to conclusion that MBT isn't a ECN.

Before US session USD/JPY is 2 pips and mostly "fixed" spread - like an market maker or bucket shop.
Other ECN broker offer at same time tighter spreads + sub pips on their prices.

When US session opens, spreads surprisedly tighten.

It's like they manipulate data price and switch from market makers to some "real" bank price feeds.

I wouldn't trust them.

Oh, well, since YOU came to that conclusion, it must be so oh wise and powerful Oz. The spreads fluctuate all the time. You obviously have some agenda. Pull your head out and stop smoking crack. What a dope.

I'd just thought I'd throw in my experience with the SDK. I've been using it for 3 years and am seriously considering going to a different vendor. I definately would not recomend it. I'm also considering the FIX interface

1. Support is non existent for developers if you have problems on the demo platform (the demo platforms are really buggy). The biggest problem has been that MB does a reset at Midnight EST. I assume that this is because the system is too buggy to be up 24/7. If you get one of these reset problems, the only thing you can do is shutdown and restart your system around 12:30 AM. I've been trying to work with support on this for the last year and they just don't get it. There are many other problems that I've reported that no one will look into, from lock ups on shutdown, to the server immediately executing any price you enter. Things that don't happen on the live server, although executing my order at any price would be nice. MB just doesn't seem to take software development, configuration control and support seriously.

2. The SDK forum is focused more towards VB and C#, which makes it very difficult to use most existing AI tools. Do any of the big trading companies use VB and C#. Looking at the job market, it looks like all the black box systems are being commercially developed in C++. I think they are a MetaTrader wanna be.

3. There is a kind of use at your own risk. If you have a problem and communicate that to the moderator of the MB forum, the stock answer is, I don't have that problem. Even when you provide, evidence, in the case of MB generated logs and test examples, they seem unwilling to investigate.

I have no clue what has happened to MB, it did start out really good, but the last year has been awful. Did they move development offshore?

I guess CME Globex system is buggy too, they are down several times/day for reset. I am not a huge fan of MBT API either, but once you figure it out, it's actually not as bad as you say it is. There are ways to accomplish reconnects and I have it working 98% of the time. You have to look at the big picture, i.e Oanda API is 600/month + setup and it's not ECN, Hotspot API is Java.
As to who uses .NET in real life: lots of trading shops.

1) Can I have an account in Euros?

2) Is the demo account the same with live account?

Question for users with live account with MB Trading.

1) What about re-quotes or slipage?

2) Do they have fast execution?

Please help me chose a broker.
