Relative Strength Basket Trading System

I've had enough for today... two demo account.. 1st one gain >200+ (100% green trades), 2nd one gain >100+ (with some red trades)... I only plot KG RS GROUP on my chart, and entry base on crossing and pointing lines... rules on exit got mixed up (sometimes i can't keep my eyes off the candles chart).. supposed to be exit base on crossing condition/oppsite directions only... Dont know how to attach detailed statement... cannot post 'em yet. Cheers all.

Let me re-word my question!
Is it normall to get the opposite indication, at one it is weak at the other it is strong?

OK, it's normal because RS_GROUP_XXX measure the individual strength and KG_RS_GROUP show us all currency strength where here we could compare a currency strength to each other.

In your case, JPY base on RS_GROUP_JPY tell us that the strength already WEAK (Just starting) but when we check on KG_RS_GROUP .. we can see JPY is pointing down but the strength still highest compare to the other currency. This means, JPY is still strong. The weak signal from RS_GROUP_JPY will valid if on KG_RS_GROUP JPY is the weakest.

Afternoon all.... been looking at the EA for Money Management as with out this any system isn't all that safe......


I have got the following... can any one help put this together?

1. EA to manage a basket by comment/magic number
2. if the basket hits a total profit of (say) £30 (or pips equivalent) to close the basket
3. Lock in a Break even (starting point after spread paid). So when total basket hits + £2 lock in (move SL to here)

Now the tricky bit........

4. Lock in profit as basket moves up.

The problem here is this...... if the number is too high it may never get there, too low and it may close down within seconds on a retrace. Basket trades can at times move extremely fast!

The only way I could think of doing this was to start at £2.50, make the next hop £3.50,£4.50 and so on and only close the basket IF the retrace in price is more that xx% of the last stop.

For example basket opens.

Value is -£3.26 as the spread has devalued the start. (normal)

Price moves in right direction, basket value is now +£2.35 - SL moves to £2.00 basket equivalent so what ever happens from here on no loss is made, just a small profit (+£2.00)

Price moves again in right direction hitting £4.70 - so the £2.50 hop is triggered - then price falls to £4.40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

-On current setup the basket would close-
-actual profit +£4.50 (that is the break even £2.00 and the first hop £2.50)

the price moves to what would have been £5.50, then £7.00, we have now lost out big time.
Tolerance required.

If I could allow for a retrace % of the £2.50 of say 50% (£1.25) I would still be in this trade. As I want the Jump to increase in value by £1.00 per hop (keeping the xx% the same) the stronger this gets the safer it becomes, if it retraces as a normal move then fine - if the ass falls out of it no problem as it will have banked.


This would be very different to setting the jump to £5.00, as any time it passes the jump figure it will close – with the tolerance above added it can carry on if it’s not to severe.

Does that make sense?

5. All figures to be loaded as either PIPS or £'s, not $. My account is in £'s, PIPS would be better as it would apply to anyone's account. I have notice that a take profit of $200 inst any £ figure I can work out, and isn’t consistent.

Also for the EA to understand I trade in 0.01 lots up to 0.09 lots. I don’t think this matters

Looked at chart... was WEAK, difference in numbers was +8 (then +11) then back to +8 so put in a sell.

Opened at -£6.00 now -£18, still weak.... Where did I go wrong?

now -£33.00

Indicators: KG RS GROUP & KG_RS_JPY

Buy Condition:

KG_RS_JPY (WEAK) & KG_RS_Group, JPY < 54

Sell Condition:

KG_RS_JPY (STRONG) & KG RS GROUP, JPY > 55

Yup missed that.

Closed it off as it went back to strong -£47 (thats a third of this account in 22 minutes)

This afternoon threw up a big bug in my management ea, in the basket trade expiry time routine.

I had forgotten to tell it to look only for trades with the correct magic number. I still have the (more and more unlikely looking) basket outstanding from my buy at what seemed to be the top of my xxxJPY range this morning. These have been in place for more than 3 hours.

I sent an ES basket at 16.00 gmt today, setting my management ea to close them if they are still open after 210 minutes. The ea duly found a KG basket trade that had been open for longer and obediantly closed all the ES basket trades. A good little robot doing exactly as it is told.

It reflects considerable credit on both these strategies that this has not arisen before now. If you plan using my ea to manage both KG and ES trades, then follow the link to my thread and download the fixed version.

I have again today been wiped out (another £50) because of the incorrect settings on the EA.

Profit was set to $60 and loss to $30 yet the EA closed before that.

I have now switched this feature off as my account has been halved!

£140 opening balance - lost £49 Bad Trade - lost another £50 EA setting

One word of caution. Just because you tell the EA to close all if Profit>x or Loss<x doesnt actually mean it will or can.

When you submit a closeorder() it can take awhile to actually close all the trades due to the tick movement for each currency pair and because of requotes.

So, say you closeorder() when total orders profit is greather than 30, by the time the last order is closed you could well end up with a negative profit!!!.

I accept that - now look at my image again - as soon as they were opened they were closed, and it never reached any where near the +30 or -60.

This is the problem...............

So effectively it has opened, paid my broker the spread and closed!

o dear. At least you know what the problem is now and can fix it.

To be honest I know is happening but I am nut sure why.

It may be because the EA is confused with the 0.01 lots rather than using 0.1 lots.

Do you think I should treat this as 330 and 600 rather than 30 and 60?

I am sorry you have had problems, Eddie, but you must check that an ea works properly on a demo account before letting it loose live.

It works however it closed me out before it got started. It is going to be something to do with lot size........

This happened to me before.... too much going on and forgot (on the back of a bad basket for me)

Can you check it against the lot size please and let me know.
