Interesting, in the rush of adjusting to the market with other currencies, the old tried but true keeps plugging away. Just works on fewer currencies now but it still works.

i wouldnt say the EA is worthless i think the most important thing is for us all to understand the system and recognise changes to normal market fluctuations in different pairs so we can adapt the EA in the future in regards to tp and stop loss etc.

If the norm is no more than, say 200, what would be the problem of using a setting of some real high amount over that, such as 400, as a stop loss?

The Aud Cad works if you dont go into the USA session and you stay away from Aud news stories. The Eur/gbp worked also until it started the 300 pip days of recent history

say 400 SL but what other setting would you have? 40x20?

Ok course we are, why make a thread about it if we were not trading it? There are risk issues to work out but in my limited testing it is making money right now.

The range has always been limited because the two economies are very similar, and the size of the currencies are similar. The uniqueness of these two is the USA and EURO sessions does note seem to affect them much so they dont have these long runs like other currencies do. The high and the low for the day may range more than 400 pips on some days but the bounce within 150 pips stays the same during that move up or down. A very unique pair and why the EA works here but not other currencies. So while it may move a bigger run than the Eur/gbp it doesnt stop the bouncing where as other currencies will make a run and wont do the bouncy thing during their run. The other unique feature is the bouncing thing can very volatile and run from high to low every 5 minutes but very rarely goes beyond 150 pips while doing that.


In conclusion that is a hard question to answer because the 5M chart, which gives you the philosophy of this currency only goes back a couple of months to actually test it. After that the time periods are too big to see if that action has always been that way. It is an unknown factor with MT4

Yup, I have been live for almost two months now and I know bob has been during the same amount of time. We both placed in IBFX's top 100 contest as well... well bob would have if he didn't withdraw on the second to last day.

I am trading AUDNZD live since two days with 0.01 lot size.

What I have noticed with the help of xls sheet is:
Instead of increasing the lot size to 0.02, if you increase the multiplication to 1.7 from 1.6 for example, you get higher profit figure with lesser drawdown.

I am also experimenting on GBPJPY with 35x25, 50x40 etc. It can be a real work horse producing 30% - 70% returns in a day if you can avoid more than 150 pips movement in one direction which is indeed difficult now a days. If you get lucky, anything is possible.

I totally agree with u. Nothing works forever. Just make sure that u guys don't blow up all ur profit/account when a death trade happen. It will take several death trades to occur before knowing it's not working anymore.

Speaking of which (i.e. understanding the system), has anyone here summarized the system in an English-language form? I can go through the EA but I'm a lazy bastard; plus, as a software professional I know that the code may have extra stuff in it that might be a distraction from the core system concepts. The OP has already said that there's left-over code in the EA for processing some indicator (stochastics?) that isn't used any more.

A quick explanation is really all that's needed.

Wonder if you could answer something for me quick. Gonna open a live account with IBFX, is their mini account @ 400:1 the right account? Not too worried about the leverage, just making sure that it's the pennies account.

Correct. That is the account I use with no problems, so far.

From what you wrote, you have been using the 50/20 ea for 2 months with no shutdowns on the USA session. I am curious if you have had the 250 stoploss hit on you and if so how many times?

No, but I normally close out trades if I don't like the way they are looking at about levels 7-8. So... some of those probarly have been stoploss hits if I didn't do that.

Even if the EA does the trading for me I'm nearby most of the time. So it is alot more like discretionary trading than mechanical for me. IMO the stoploss for me is more of an emergency, oh sh*t I lost power or my cable went down, etc.
