Open up the EA setting then lower does it will say "money managment" and you type 1 to enable it then under Risk you change that number to the percent number. i.e. 6, etc.

It's Thanksgiving day here in the US, and trading will be very slow, so I left my EA run again today for the US Session. Trading live account at stock settings, and at .15, and account increased by $84.00 since yesterday for a two day total of $181.00. I am trading in a live Interbank account of a little over $4,000.00. Using .15, my risk if stopped out is about $720.00 if stopped out.

I have not seen anyone post it but has there been anyone who's day has ended in a DD?

also, using Frost's excel sheet are you suppose to get the Ratio figures filled in the cell?
I never get a ratio only #NAME?

shows error in cell E8 , here is formula from that cell.

=ROUND(E5/GCD(E5,ABS(F5)),0)&":"&ROUND(ABS(F5)/GCD(E5,ABS(F5)),0)

anyone tell me how to correct it? excel says the formula contains unrecognized text.

Tommyd, as far as drawdown, most of the trades are made when I'm asleep, but I have seen very little drawdown so far. Last night, there was an hour candle that went 98 pips, and the sell went to level 7. That would mean I had 6 previous sells open. Using the spreadsheet, you could probably estimate the drawdown at that level. As I look right now, the open positions are only minus $10.48 and I'm trading .15. My account has increased by twelve bucks since my last post.

Is it #NAME or #NUM? It shows the error in the calculation represented in the cell.
My take on this is, it happens when sum of profit column for all levels is negative. That means, when you reach the max level and if it reaches TP value and closes, you will end up with a loss and it goes against the basis of this EA.
When any of one of your level close, all preceding levels are also closed and you start up afresh at a new level.
So you should use only such settings which do not result in #NUM in the ratio column. Higher the ratio, more profitable the setting but you should look at the coverage also. Very interesting tool to play around with.

I had a drawdown today with my mini initially when the range went out of PB pivot levels. I added few positions manually to balance but later things recovered and ended with about 2.5%. I was being very cautious on my first LIVE day(0.02). With normal settings(0.05), it could have been 7%.

No it is #NAME? and it does no matter what inputs I use that is all it ever returns in that cell.

Strange. My finder3.xls has the same formula. Try multiplier of 2 and see.

Tommyd,

For what it is worth - GCD = Greatest Common Denominator function in Excel.

Therefore both E5 & F5 must be numerical values (f5 is usually negative, therefore the use of ABS = absolute function), in order to derive to ratio displayed in E8.

I tried to use functions that all versions of Excel, Numbers, OpenOffice, etc... could use. However, things do work slightly differently on different software. Honestly, the ratio thing is not that big of a deal so you're not missing much. It just tries to find the absolute value of the potential profit and DD and sticks them together, so you can just eyeball it and get a good feel for what it is. Also, perhaps try a different version of Excel, or download the free OpenOffice or try something else.

Trading .05 is not the same as trading .20 and everything is 4x. The multiplication is done exponentially so if you hit a loss using these numbers at .20 it would clean out a 2000 dollar account. If you want the 4x you need to use 4 accounts using the same numbers.

If you really want to use .20 you need to change the multiplication and other things to make it work. Use Frosts excel program to make it work with .20 If you dont know your stop loss figure dont trade the number.

AAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I could have placed in the top 5 IBFX contest . Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhggggggggggggg. I would have been over 100% someplace. aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh gggggggggggggggg. DANG When am I gonna learn that those guys with the super programs get killed when they have to close AAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhggggggggggggggggg dang dang dang

if your looking to trade 0.2 lots i personally wouldnt trade it with an account lower then $3813 based upon a 25% risk to your account if stop loss is hit

Ya. All of us will go for it in Dec and we will see who is the lucky one. Imagine 50 person using this EA...Lets talk more about this so that it will encourage more people to join us for this. Maybe the top 100 will be those using this. So, do bob stand a better chance to getting the top compare to the previous one ? What is different now compare to the previous one is that from Dec onwards everyone going for it is using the same thing.

Let's share the wealth together . Can i beat u ? Maybe not, but there is random chance i just might. When more people is using it, the chances increase.

So where is this thread going in the coming months ? People will try to beat the other guy who is using the same thing. If they discover something which everyone else doesn't know, will they share it ? Maybe yes, maybe not. This will end up everyone keeping the good stuff for themselves and eventually this thread will come to an end.

So, is it a good idea to discuss what u have achieve in the contest and encourage more people to join u and try to beat u in the contest ? It's all about winning after all when u are in a contest.

it would be nice to win a contest but its not the most important thing. Im jsut after consistent 'risk-free' returns.. I think we run the problem if everyone starts competing of people risking too much on the initial lot size and blowing real accounts...

it would be nice to think people share things, such as frost EA fact finder which has proven very valuable. I think as long as this thread remains in rookie section it wont get too crowded. Nothing worse then trying to follow a thread which goes x amount of pages between viewings.

Bob, I know how you feel. After my drop on Monday, I was down to about $70. In 3 days, I went back up to $250. Imagine if I would have waited a few days (until the Dec contest) and done the same in 1 week then stopped trading for the rest of the month. Instant top 5.

Me too. I'm a really big fan of open source, so I make all of my stuff that way. No reason we can't all make money. This is why I have a big distrust of folks who want to charge you to 'learn their secret'. If they are really making great money, what's the problem with telling people how you did it for free?
