I enter when the price moves 1 point above/below the high of the 7-9ET box. Exit at 12 points profit, reason being is that if you wait for a full 5 point move, then add in the spread, you're looking at a move of approx 23 points move to hit your target. I also use an SL of 15 points-have made money in the last few days, but have then been stopped out before the really big moves so am by no means an expert. Hope this helps a bit.

I've only been watching this method for a couple of days....But it sure does seem to be an easy and simple way of making some pips. My problem is that I'm on my way to work before the box is completed. And by the time I arrive to work, it's been too late for me to enter. So I ask if anyone has developed an EA for this method. And if so, would you like to share it? I hope i'm not being too forward in asking for this. I guess If I had to make a donation to your favorite charity, then that would be fine with me. Please reply or PM me.

Thanks,
Todd

Friday traded breakout first time live - minilots only.
Gbp/usd first half + 15 pips, second half + 22 pips.
Had to leave computer unfortunately, otherwise would have let second half of position run either to breakeven or further into positive pip area. In this case pos. went down rapidly. Maybe i´ll get the move next time. Was using a 20pip stop loss.
Nice method really.

The consistency of successful trades this strategy has provided for me has been unbelievable in the last few weeks! This strategy combined with proper money management is a huge success.

CTGUY,

I traded this morning using this method and made 38 pips; however, I am not sure if I did it by pure luck this time. When “16:00” came around, my box was drawn from 1.4947 to 1.5028. My question is, do you wait until the 16:00 bar closes to note the high and lows, meaning you are not able to start trading till the 16:15 candle opens?

The reason I ask is, because if that is the case, my trade this morning would not have been valid per the trading rules due to a breakout on the 16:00 candle. I would have to draw a new box with a high of 1.5077.

As always, I appreciate the help!

CTGUY,

Your system delivered 20 pips for me during the London market, and another 35 pips with the New York market. Breakout/straddle systems have been the only strategies that have consistently made me profits over the past 3 years. This may be the best, yet!

Thank you for sharing!

Is anyone successfully trading the Asian market with CTGUY's system? If so, which currency pairs work best for you?

Thanks.

Thanks much for this great idea. I think it is well thought out and most profitable. May i ask a few questions?

1. How can I mazimize my exit(A indicator, just plain time or other ways?) after entry?

2. Do I place a stop order 1 tic higher/lower then the high/low in question?

3. Can I use yourattachment on a hand held device instead of being chained to my office all day using MetaTrader with your GUB breakout as well as other indicators written for MetaTrader?

4. Have you seen a sound indicator I can use when/if mt stop is hit?

Thanks again and have a most enjoyable holiday season.

I've posted on this thread few weeks before, with my own variation of this system, that proved to work very well for my trading style.
I've attached an spreadsheet with my analysis.

So my system follows these rules:

Enter trade with three lots (in my case micro lots)

First TP - 15 pips (move SL to BE)
Secon TP - 45 pips (move SL to + 5 pips)
Third TP - 100 pips

SL - opposite side of channel (not more than 100 pips)

If channel is wider than 100 pips, then SL is 100 pips.

I'm trading Three pairs - GBP/USD, EUR/USD; CHF/USD

The most profitable one is GBP - as CTGUY said.

Results for GBP :
19 trades ;
17 winners (7 hit 100 pip TP)
2 loser ( 1 -50 pips; 2 - 64 pips; = -114 pips)

altogether I've made 304 pips in profit this month with GBP.

EUR and CHF are profitable but not as GBP

Results for EUR:

20 trades
17 winners ( 5 hit 100 pip TP)
3 loser ( 1 -100; 2 -54; third -70 = -224)

altogether I've made only 100 pips in profit this month with EUR.

Until today CHF is at B/E.

I will continue to trade this system with micro lots, and post my results.

Cheers

Hi all
I used to trade this using 9 currency pairs but it got to time consuming to enter all the orders. I just trade 1. GBP/JPY which gives me a consistent 10 pips. Lots determine how much you make, not how many pips. The spread from my broker is 2-4 on this pair. Sometimes I will have it break out and my stop loss will be the low of the candle before. 9 times out of 10 I always get 50 - 100 pips. I also use 1 hr time frame and my times are from 0500 est to 0800 est. The 0800 candle goes to 0900 est. I know this is different than the original but...
Ignored
Hi,
May I know what is your SL for the consistent 10 pips from GBP/JPY? If you r target is 50-100 pips, then what is your SL? Thanks
