It would be great to see a discussion on this. Conventional wisdom describes the lower TFs as "noisy" but an M15 chart is practically indistinguishable from a D1 chart at comparable zoom levels.

I personally can't distinguish what TF chart I'm
looking at if it isn't labeled.
Do different TF's really vary in terms of:
Trending?
Randomness?
Noise?
Volatility?
Below: Name the TF.
lol there is no difference, I have tried to point this out in the past to people that liked to say anything under 1hour is noise. The market trends on a 1sec chart just as it does on a 1day chart the only difference is the movements you see are for more pips on a 1day chart. Take price and timeline away and you cannot tell the difference. Too many people aim for 50, 100, 150 pips etc for small money, try aiming for 5,10,15 pips etc with big money. Now ask yourself how often the market moves 5,10,15 pips vs 50,100,150 pips?????
This discussion certainly could be called noise as well.
There is also another question to answer - Do you want to sit and babysit a trade all day based off of a 5 minute chart? Do you want to sit around and wait all day for that signal? Or, would you rather check the charts every 4 hours or so, and make decisions every 4 hours?
It's nice to have a life outside of trading after all. Remember, when you got into this, it was about freedom. Scalping a 5 minute chart all day isn't exactly that in my opinion.

Additionally, there is the factor of "speed". I do not need to go too far into this, as it is easy to see how price formation is visually generated a the pace set by the time frame. The indication with this point is that you need more skill to interpret and adjust to the oncoming formation faster whilst not allowing your emotions to override your decision making process. This is assuming you are trading based greatly on what you see in front of you (on a chart)
More of "interpret and adjust" ? How about interpreting and adjusting to countless news reports and technical factors that you need to do on a larger timeframe because all of that will happen during your trade and might affect it. Occasionly there are good trades on higher tfs but you have to wait half a lifetime for them, and still sticking to proper mm, the relative profit potential is pathetic.Compound interest. Do a spreadsheet of 3% a month for 20 years. Use a reasonable balance to start with. Whatever you can honestly afford. Take a look at how much it can grow with that slow, steady return. Then do another exercise, ADD money to the account every few months, a few hundred bucks makes a huge difference.
Try fishing, you'll enjoy it more. Seriously, one has to be very bored to work for such low return in his spare time from his main job. Money only matters if you can spend it in your lifetime, doesn't it ? If a 5m chart is "too fast" for you... maybe you should stop taking those sleeping pills and try to wake up.

Seriously, It's good to use all TF's in order to get the big picture of whats really going on. Then I look for opportunities on any TF that gives me one. For instance I see where the trend is on the weekly and daily, I see a good opportunity on the 4hr or 1hr then look at the 15min, If I'm still feeling good about this trade then I go to the 30 sec TF and stalk my trade. I sneek up on it and kill it. Then I switch back to the larger TF's and let my profits ride. Yes it's all noise on all time frames. But those who can listen to the noise will understand what its saying and the best frequency to listen to the noise for me is the 4hr all rock all the time frequency channel.
