...helping people would be an easy task, it's just to present the correct material ! I start to understand what level passion and commitment is needed from both sides to even have a slightest chance to understand.

Not even in 3 weeks. This country has already bought what Obama is selling but this is getting off-topic, way off.

Myths about trading cannot be shown to newbies. They only see the money "myth". I know I did, at one time.

Look at the worldwide financial crisis. A lot of supposed sophisticated people were "drinking the kool-aid" there. People believe what they want when they want.

But for every thread like this, with the many excellent points made, it might help a certain number of newbies from falling into the same trading trap.

Good point. When people believe in something, its very hard to prove otherwise even with the a perfectly simple explanation (based on experience).

Amen to that brother. Not that they don't effect the market, just that I don't understand what they mean, and what everyone else cares about. For me, it was always about making profits anyways.

  1. Crossing and messing around with indicators would give me any edge, if I just could test it long enough. What a waste of time.

Been there, done that.

  1. Fibonacci numbers had some magical effect on the market.
  2. When fibs worked, I discovered that the “magical” levels just matched with previous low/high.

BINGO! This always amazes me how many people go \"Oh look, it's the 38.2% line.....and don't bother noticing that it's also at a weekly support line as well!

  1. Watching every other market would give me any edge/was essential to trade the spot FX market. After some time, I understood that correlation is a fundamentals game, nothing for a technician. Nothing more interesting with correlation for me, at least.

The other markets can give you a hint what to look for, but nothing else in my opinion. It certainly isn't anything to base a trade on in itself.

  1. I would be profitable after a year, maximum, and rich after 2. Lol

I know, it's been 20 months, and I am still working. Someone lied to me!

  1. Someone would tell me the truth about this market; all I heard was money, money and how rich you could get in a short time-frame. So few want to admit how much work is needed to succeed and that they couldn't put that amount of work into it.

  1. FF contained many pro’s who actually traded for a living. I have a vague feeling that we have more pretenders than pro’s. Although, I still like this place.Trading is a lonely thing, buh-huuh

I am not a pro trader, I don't have the amount in my account to actually live off it. (Yet.) In the mean time, I add to it by profits and monthly contributions. Much like a 401k. On crack.
